Is Joe Biden to blame for the rebels' advance on Damascus?

Assad was doing so well. He practically won, now out of nowhere the rebels have advanced on the Syrian capital, the Syrian military has fled into Iraq and Assad is nowhere to be found.

Obama armed and backed these people, and now the US is shitting their pants because they don't trust them and don't want a resurgence of ISIS. And now there is concern of the two coastal provinces which are the last stronghold of the Alawites and Syrian forces.

I think Biden is indirectly, because Assad's three most powerful allies Russia, Iran and Hezbollah are all pre-occupied with other wars that were started because of Biden's weak foreign policy leadership

I knew January 20 is too long to wait. I knew Biden would still mess something up before leaving.

I am curious as to what US people think is good and bad about this. Not getting much geopol assessment locally - it is more being reported like a sporting event.

Kinda funny seeing the Russians panicking and getting on their ships leaving equipment behind for the US to potentially buy and reverse engineer. That has to be kinda good as well as funny.

On the other hand it is yet another unstable middle east regime and that is kinda bad but maybe kinda good if they are anti Iran.

They're views on this are contradictory. On one hand they're happy Assad is gone, on the other hand they're worried the people who take over will be even worse and that there will be a resurgence of ISIS.
The fact that Obama actually gave the rebels arms in exchange for not harming US citizens, tell you everything about the kinds of people these are

It's all going to plan. Assad backed Russia instead of the US, he will eventually pay the price just like Sadam, bin laden & Gadaffi did and that Iranian leader who recently died. All the time a message is sent out to Muslim leaders in the middle east. Look at Afghanistan, some fools think the taliban won but they were allowed to take over and arms left to destabilise the region after 20 years of blowing shit up in Afghanistan. It's all about sowing chaos in the middle east.

Nonsense. A government does not "do well" by staying in a civil war for 13 years. Also if your government can't stop a rebel faction that is openly rebelling against you for 13 years then you have already lost. It was simply the aid of Iran and Russia that kept the Assad government from completely collapsing but the moment they wavered in their support you could witness the inevitable downfall.

This was always going to happen.

Even if that was true, so what? It just proves that Syria would always have fallen to the rebels regardless. You could delay it another 5, 10, 50 years if you want but whats the point if the end results are the same?
