Its not marriage calling it such is just a lie whether its told by you or a politician.

A real marriage is about protecting children IE families, that means the parties involved must be capable of making such children at least in theory.

Indeed many cultures hold and historically held marriage is not consummate until the act of making such children, and that the marriage is obligatory once it is clear they exist.
Such cultures includes our own historically back when the term "marriage" still referred to the original institution rather than a pointless fashion statement people use it as now.

a lot of things are a religious sin, sex before marriage, adultery, killing people, a crapton more, yet it is done on a daily basis by a whole shitload of people, and many of those are illegal and banned. (It doesn't make it right.)
So as far as I am concerned as long as the parties involved are fine with it, who am I to say differently.
There are many different interpretations of religions now, so while it might be a sin in your faith of choice, it might not be a sin in their faith of choice.
Remember, at one time the Christian faith was once a sin, and wars were fought over it, so things change.
I'm sure on judgement day we will all have more than a few discretions to atone for.

All marriage should be banned from government involvement.

Anyone should be allowed to "marry" anyone they want privately, the government should have no involvement in it. It shouldn't be issuing "licenses" for marriage. It's none of their business.

In the eyes of government every person should be treated as an individual and there should be no special treatment or recognition of marriage.

If people want to call themselves married that's their private business and no one else's. They have a right to do that and to marry anyone or anything they want. If you want to say you are married to your video game, that's your right. If you want to marry your guinea pig, that's your right. If you want to be married in a religious ceremony between a man and a woman, that's your right. The government should have nothing to do with it.

Banned. My state voted to ban it around 2007. The ban passed by over 72% as I recall. Marriage is a states issue like age of consent, marijuana, and prostitution. Older readers may remember when most stores weren't allowed to be open on Sunday. Over the decades people's opinions changed so now they're open, but it was a state or local issue determined by the values of the citizens. Same sex marriage shouldn't be dictated by the Supreme Court when it's not mentioned in the Constitution.
