Will Luigi Mangione, the guy who shot and murdered Brian Thompson, become a right-wing hero too?

I ask bcause Thompson was a known public menace much like Jordan Neely supposedly was.

The only difference was that Neely just said things people didn't like, whereas Thompson denied medical care to people who needed it to enrich himself and very probably killed them.

The other difference is that Thompson was rich and white and Neely was poor and black.

I am betting that the right wing will support the killer of Neely, Daniel Penny, and trash Mangione, the killer of Thompson. I wonder why...

Yes, I think there's a very substantial difference. What people say is what they say. What an insurance company does or does not do in this instance often results in serious disability or death if treatment is then not possible because of financial considerations.

Insurance compan ies almost always put financial considerations ahead of humanitarian or medical considerations or even their contractual obligations if they can get away with it. Insurance companies hire people who are professionals at creating insurance policies with legal loopholes that allow the insurer to avoid payment.

Of all the things to normalize against your political opponents, violence is one of those lines that should never be crossed unless in self defense. We have already crossed several of those lines that never should have been crossed like vexatious litigation, let us take care to not cross anymore.

Seriously, though, shooting a man is clear intent to kill them, attempting to subdue one is not; I guess that's why it was a manslaughter charge. The jury heard the evidence and decided he wasn't guilty of that crime. Accept it. The real abuses of power come before anything gets to court.

It doesn't hurt if you've had good training and overwhelming numbers.

Maybe if so, but I think he's in a world of trouble too. The only things that save him may be the fact that he's white and he killed a guy that is not particularly sympathetic and actually did harm to a lot of people. On the other hand, the guy he killed was white and that's not a good thing. If the guy had been black he would be automatically off the hook.
