Trending & News Looks a lot life self defense to me. United Healthcare sold this guy insurance and then refused to pay when he became ill. They literally tried to kill him passively for profit by denying his claims over and over again. And they did the same thing systematically to hundreds of thousands of other people.
It was attempted murder, United healthcare just didn't use a gun. They refused to pay for treatment hoping their customers would die before the corporation was forced to pay any claims. As far as I know, killing for money is a felony. And killing someone who is trying to kill you is self defense.
Luigi Mangione acted rationally.
No person has the right to be both judge and executioner! Nobody has the right to unilaterally decide who gets to live and who must die! THAT is terrorism. This is supposed to be a country of law. We cannot have everybody going around shooting people whom they decided deserve to be killed for what ever real or imagined grievances! The Constitution says that no one can be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST
I hit "send" too soon. I was going to say, THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST or else we don't have a civilization! It's the jungle and it's a free-for-all.
It already is in certain countries, like Russia. Many African countries are worse.
Pity the law does not take care of injustice as a whole but only high profile cases. Like for example healthcare are practically free to abuse you as much as they can. And if you take them to court if you afford! they will have their lawyer waiting and it will be a looong process before the court might simple rule in favour of healthcare!
I have to disagree with you. God has that decision as to when you will die and when you will be born. If you are a good person who does a lot for others, I suspect you be around for a long time.
There are many people who die who can't afford operations or expensive medicine. Who is looking out for them and who prosecutes the big whigs when some poor soul dies in the hospital?

He's not a hero. But I'd prefer he NOT get the death penalty though. Simply because I know the powers that be want him excited to deter and copycats. And no, I don't want copycat either. But our Healthcare system is all kinds of f***ed up. And I would like Luigi alive as yet another example of that. Let him write his book from prison and let America be able to read it. If the Healthcare system has nothing to fear from the rankings of a lunatic than let it be so. But if SOME good comes from this. If this helps force change so this never happens again then at least a man didn't die in vain and a young man didn't throw his life away for nothing.
I can't say I believe in the death penalty.
But healthcare in the US is a disaster.
And coming from a UK citizen, that's saying something.
I think what he did is justified. It is justified when you think of all the protracted sufferings and even perhaps deaths of inusrance payers who were denied or delayed healthcare while the CEO is going to work in his suit enjoying millions and a comfortable life. I don't feel sorry for him, and I am neither an American nor do I live in America.
Stick the needle in his arm. He is a cold blooded killer.
He deserves death by the same method that he murdered the guy.
He's not a hero he is a coward.
Why coward? Quite the opposite actually. He had the balls to pull it off.
Balls to shoot an innocent guy in the back? What balls does that take? All it takes is an evil mind.
The CEO of healthcare USA an innocent guy? Lost cause dude to try and reason with you. Have a good day.
That's what people say when they have no case and are cowards themselves. Instead of having a rational debate they run away.
Yeah you are to formidable to debate with. Good day Sir I'm running away.
Nope not a hero. He committed murder. But death penalty will make him a maytre in the eyes of some.
lock him up, throw the key away
Take him from this place and hang him by the neck until dead, may the Lord have mercy on his soul.
He deserves the same sentence and pardon as that kid who raped a drunk girl at a frat party (sorry, I forgot his name). Unfortunately, his act won't change how UHC treats people.
honestly... if it leads to heathcare being held responsible for their scam, then... he was still a murderer but at least something good will have come out of it.
I applaud his actions
He deserves to die. You don't do what he did.
but what about the ceo? the head of that profit making organisation. Does he get to do what he did for a long time with potentially more lethal consequences? (The ceo is one person, healthcare might have killed hundreds because it denied them healthcare)
Doesn't matter. You don't have a legal right to go murder someone just because you are pissed at them.
Does not matter? This is not a situation were you are pissed over a guy shifting lanes carelessly, or pissed over some other rather trivial matter. This is pain, suffering, and death when we are talking about healthcare abuse. I think he deserved from what I observed. He thought he was untouchable and acted complacent and numb to the dire reality of the clients that made him rich and he paid for that with his own blood. Again I will not be justifying murder over someone spilling water on you, or some other relatively minor issue just to be clear.
Life in prison. Without parole.
