While this is a fairly complicated subject and a lot of it relies on probability not to mention how the modern era of internet has messed with how interconnected we are.

Mathematically speaking its not that crazy to say that everyone on earth is between 6-7 degrees separated from each other. What that means in practice is.. dubious. There has been some practical tests attempted which has gotten fairly close but its likewise hard to gain the cooperation between random people for scientific experiments.
