People obviously observed the dynamic of Musk telling Trump what to do. Case in point, the federal budget funding bill that Musk had the MAGA congress members deny.

Look when you become the prez you get surrounded by advisors. These advisors will have an extremely high effect on the policy of that president. No man rules alone. So yes Elon musk and many others will have a big hand in things going on for the next 4 years.

After Musk got the bill killed, the part that would have stopped him exporting technology to China was removed.

They're more subserviant; they work for people and try to change opinions, they don't declare that a bill is unacceptable and expect a party to forget their negotiations and simply roll over.

I mean a lot of bills get killed and changed. Off the top of my head. Back in the 80s a law was passed that banned video rental stores from selling user data. Well in the 2010s Netflix lobbied to get that law repleaded. And it did.
I think this stuff always happens. I think it's just more transparent now.
