What makes someone an evil person?

I think we all have two natures within us; the nature of conscience and the nature of power. These two will always be at war within us.

The nature of power, the desire for wealth, influence, control and the safety of those we love can cause us to become evil. Most people whom we would describe as evil had good intentions and wanted to make the world a better place. Even certain serial killers were trying to "punish" themselves or their abuser by projecting onto their victims and then taking sadistic pleasure in "justice" being done. Obviously, there are people who are psychpathic or have brain chemistry issues, but the million dollar question is, "Would they have done the things they did, had their circumstances been different?" We'll never know...

The nature of conscience reminds us when we may be going too far, when our desires are stronger than the overall good. Whether we choose to ignore that is partly a matter of how we were raised, what influences we or our parents permitted in our life, our genetic makeup, our risk/reward ratio (fear factor), and probably other things I can't think of at the moment. The nature of conscience helps us to choose a higher ethic, even when it conflicts with our desire for safety (or power).

So, my response is that what causes someone [normal person] to become "evil" is a process of little decisions in favor of power over conscience over time. Another way of saying it could be making decisions based on fear rather than love over a period of time.

The devil 👿 has his grip on them and it's a pretty tight grip.

Using illicit drugs can turn a person evil.

Some may be born evil although that's hard to believe.

If they were unloved and abused in their childhood.

Having an overbearing mother and an abusive father in the house together. The child doesn't stand a chance in that environment.

Being bullied during childhood.

I don't think anyone is an evil person. They may do bad and evil things, mainly because they have the opportunity and don't fully understand the difference between right and wrong.
