Imagine men and women had their own separate countries. What would those countries look like and would you like to live in them?

Inspired by a summary about the movie "Barbie" which I haven't seen.

Well the TV Survivor series gives some clues. The women's hut has a leaky roof and it blows down. The men's hut is dry and it stays upright.

The women lose fire when it rains but the men's fire is protected from rain and stays alight. The men can start fire with with sticks but the women can't because they don't have the patience or strength.

The women use the fresh water they start with to wash their then start finding they are dehydrating. The men don't wash their hair in the fresh water and put up a contrivance to collect rain water.

The men kill animals for food but the women don't.

The women are always going over to the mens camp asking for food water fire and a corner of their hut to dry out in.

Then the men have a great idea. The women were given a fishing net but the men weren't. the women have never used it. The men suggest the women lend it to them and will give them half the fish they catch.

The woman decide to rub it in that the men are asking for something from the women, so they refuse the deal. The men are offended at the uncooperative and tell the women to buggar off and not come round asking for shit no more.

I think this is exactly how your two countries will pan out. The women's country will have emaciated dehydrated women shivering in the cold trying to find a dryish spot when it rains.

Putting aside the whole reproduction problems.. not much difference actually. There might be more cause for wars between the countries because humans have traditionally narrowed in on any perceived difference as a point of national friction, and a gender difference certainly qualifies. That said, I dont think people realize how deterministic leadership positions actually are.

As a leader you generally do not have much of a choice. You want a stronger economy, safer society etc.. The same things as any other leader would. Likewise we have a long history of strategies of what works and does not work to accomplish this. A male leader or a female leader would be choosing from the same handful of strategies for how to grow their nation so unless there is something majorly different like geographical disparity between them then they would probably be doing the exact same thing.

Whether we like to admit it or not, that wouldn't be ideal. Deny gender roles all you want, but there are differences between men and women. There are things men bring to the table and things women bring to the table, and they're all important.

Women couldn't survive in their own country without men. They don't "need a man" in today's comfortable modern society because of all men do every day to make their world livable for women and children. But a society without men would not last long.

A society without women would be miserable for men because we love women, but they would survive just fine.
