There does seem to be a smugness with people in very liberal cities about white southerners, a real need to feel superiorin themselves by imaging others are backward and stupid. They are generally prodestants and I'm Catholic but I've found them to be very genuine polite and honourable decent people and very kind. Many of the places I've visited in the south are very charming lovely towns and cities. I was in san Francisco once, I couldn't wait to leave. The south seems the kind of place where say you had a pram and you encountered steps someone will instantly help you by lifting the pram down the steps with you, San Francisco seemed like a place where someone maybe would puke over your baby and steal the pram.
