Does someone who never served in the military have any right to complain about the behavior of veterans?

Veterans are the ones who became what was needed to protect their nation and its way of life. Do those they protected have the right to complain when they don't like the behavior that was trained into veterans?

As a veteran, unfortunately yes they do have that right. Do I agree with it? It depends on the scenario. Unfortunately I’ve seen a few vets who do act like spoiled brats. Obviously getting a free meal on Veterans Day and asking stores if they offer a military discount isn’t necessarily spoiled or entitled, but flying off the handle if the store doesn’t offer it and demanding a discount because you’re a veteran is. And if I happen to be in that store witnessing that, I’ll tell you from one vet to another that you’re acting like a baby. Unfortunately the veteran community does have its own kind of Karen.

That being said I’ve had civilians call me entitled for even asking about the military discount (I don’t fly off the handle of stores don’t offer it, I just say “thank you” and continue shopping). I’ve also been called entitled for using VA healthcare and for receiving free college tuition and cost of living allowance (when I was a full time college student after getting out in 2011) by civilian “friends” because they were annoyed that they couldn’t get the same benefits.

To answer your question, if we’re actually acting like entitled spoiled brats, then yes civilians have a right to complain about our behavior. We’re adults and shouldn’t be acting like that.

You're God damn right I do. And according to people like you, did they not fight to give me that right? Everyone has their reasons, so why can't other people's behavior get excused?

There's the entitlement and special treatment, which if they were drafted fine, I can totally understand and excuse to an extent. But if they enlisted by CHOICE, they are in no position to demand special treatment or more than they're already getting. Israelis are forced to serve and I don't see them bitching or acting entitled like stupid American soldiers.

But even the ones who were drafted, you'd think they of all people would understand that other people have orders and procedures to follow just like they did.

They should definitely not be in public, if they're aggressive towards the public. I had to deal with their abuse so much at my work.

I even saw a post online that said an American veteran threw a hissy fit in Australia, because a store wouldn't give him a military discount. Only American soldiers are this entitled and stupid.

They've protected me? From what? One cyber stalked me and threatened me with death for breaking up with his niece and calling her behavior. I've felt in the most dangerous at work from soldiers.

And they killed Bin Laden, so what? There's thousands more like him. I also don't see them protecting us from mass shooters, cartels/street gangs or criminals. Last time they protected us was World War II. From then on, American soldiers have done more harm then good to the people in other countries they were allegedly supposed to be protecting and they couldn't even protect THEM.

So YES! I have every right!

Yes, they do, if the veterans are behaving badly. I am a veteran with 20 years of active e service and I would be totally wrong to behave badly to anyone without a good reason. Most veterans deserve the utmost respect, but when they behave badly, I would complain also!

Of course. Any group has the right to complain about any other group. It's just that when the complaints become about technical aspects of certain job roles, then the outside group should probably educate themselves before running their mouths.

Like, I can complain about teachers SAing students, but should probably STFU about the lesson plan develop process they go through.

Behavior is behavior, and nobody has the right to engage in obnoxious or dangerous behavior without being confronted about it.

That said - most non-veterans do not understand the behavior of veterans with PTSD, and you need to make allowances for that in the same way that others need to be more understanding of the behavior of men who have been badly traumatized.

South Korea is still protected so it did do something. We fought for freedom in Afghanistan and it fell later. Not our fault. And why do you go to Afghanistan if you are too good to take off your shoes and consider their water overpriced.
