Given how few federal law enforcement agent's all together (nevermind ICE) there are and the local ignorance of the same it is very unlikely they would be able to find much less deport very many illegal aliens, without the support of state & local governments.

If your going to find illegal aliens you need to know the community to know where to look, and who is new. Local's have that knowledge as well as control of local institutions that would have contact with said illegal like schools and inspection boards etc..

So if we want to secure American borders the local's have to have a reason to support the effort.
Fortunately the burden of soo many illegal aliens has given them a reason politically even if the democrat elite don't recognize it.

A bounty system would give them yet anther reason, and the financial means to help as well.

You would think its obvious, 20,000 Ice agents are not going to be able to find and deport 10+ million illegal aliens.

A lot of federal politicians, even if they wanted to do the job, are delusional and power hungry. They don't like the idea of not directly controlling other people. So their solution was delusional at best to somehow hire a few additional agents.

As if a job of controlling territory which is a security job requiring on the ground presents to identify the threat would be impacted by such a small number in a land as vast as America.

If we want to do this job we need to harness the already existing population on the ground, or all the efforts are hopeless. There are not enough money or even people to be hired to do the job under their direct control.

We need to pay the people already there to do the work when they encounter it.
