What do you think should happen to politicians who "suddenly" change party after being elected?

Two Florida "Democrats" have decided that they're really Republicans after all.

Rep. Hillary Cassel of Boynton Beach (who strangely faced no Republican opposition in her competitive district, but spent $30,000 of Democratic money), and Tampa Representative Susan Valdés.

Lots of politicians have changed parties. No big deal. People change over time. The parties also change over time. Both major parties in the US have changed a LOT over the last 40-50 years. Heck, they've changed a lot over the last 10-15 years. So even if someone's views stay the same, over time they could better align with a different party simply because the party changed.

It happens here as well. It's quite the fraud by false labeling. Fortunately the voters seem to have a good memory and usually vote the turncoats out on the next election cycle.

depends on the reason, some parties over the last 5-10 years and haven fringe ideas and ideogies and principle while shutting down conversation and opposition. If they are glory hunters and know its the only way to retain the seat, then thats something entirely different.

I think people should be open to the possibility these two have come to their senses and realized Republicans are better. But be open for the possibility they are just trying to take advantage of Republican goodwill and might switch back at a later point in time.

I think it's far more likely they planned it all along. Especially the one who wasn't contested in a seat that could have been won by a Republican.

Ideally, their colleagues would ostracize them but you need a spine and a conscience for that...

You cannot blame somebody for following their values. Many Democrats have switched parties mostly because the democrats are so crazy and corrupt.

In 2020 and 2023? Why is the GOP Johnson as a win? He was never elected as a Republican candidate. Besides, the ones I'm talking about switched between being elected as Democrats and being sworn in. Sure looks like bait and switch to me.
