I never understood why some people think you shouldn't say bad things about a person after they die. Dying doesn't suddenly turn a bad president into a good one.

Sure, he was probably a good person. But there are millions of good people out there. The only reason anyone knows who Carter is is because he was president. And he will be judged in history that way.

Same goes for regular people. It makes no sense why it's wrong to "speak ill of the dead". Obviously you shouldn't do it in front of their family after they lost someone, but anywhere else it's fair game.

I do not remember much about it except for the energy crisis. Later I read about some of the shady characters he had working for him. His brother was sketchy too. Still he was a better president than Biden and I do not think he ever took a dime from foreign countries or big businesses, He was not in it for the money.
