Julie, I think Trump has run a very clever insider joke campaign that has made him hard to touch. Not given to many to pull that off.
He says illegal immigrants are eating cats and dogs. Then there are pics of him being in protective postures towards cute cats and dogs in a very presidential style.
A comedian makes an offensive joke, so he is next seen driving a garbage truck.
Make people laugh and each time they laugh, the insider joke builds on itself. When opponents go spastic at him, that also builds the insider joke. If people laugh at an opponents reaction then they have not made an effective point and more likely shot themselves in the foot.
Sobriquets and exaggerated hyperbole became a trademark as a sort of repetitive joke. I imagine people attending his rallies would be hoping to hear a new one and laugh at all the old ones.
I don't think it could be said that Trump has made politics funny again because he is the only one who has ever made politics funny. Well perhaps Zelenskyss because he did have a comedy show as preparation for becoming President of Ukraine after all.
I have been to Haiti on a mission trip and it is true - these people DO eat wandering animals, at the drop of a fire pit. The animals who DO survive have learned to jump sideways very instinctively and very, VERY quickly.
As a former Trump supporter, yeah I will say politics have gotten ugly since Trump entered the political world… Republican Politicians blowing up Toyota Prius with ‘Green New Deal’ with a sniper rifle, claiming that January 6th was a “normal tourist visit” even though photographs showcase the exact Republican politician cowering in fear & pushing the barricades helping Capitol Police lock out the mob, to name calling and vile finger pointing on both sides…. And more. It is ugly and I hate it.
I want to talk about veterans, empathy, mental health programs, and bettering healthcare for millions of Americans while Trump & Right-Wing Politicians want us to talk about tampons, gender neutral bathrooms, and ‘Gay Frogs’. I want to talk about how much America means to me & the world and they want to cozy up to those that bring out the worst in politics / sing the praises of corporate entity nuts as long as they pretend to be on their side when all corporate entities are bad regardless of party position.
The fact is, politics is ugly now and is vile. We need to come together on actual issues like Union promoting, Striking without fear of getting fired, our failing Housing Market, Housing The Homeless, Student Loan Forgiveness, etc. These actually matter not bathrooms or tampons or some stupid shit like “Communism!” Scares of the 1950s. This is the modern day and we need to lift each other up not pull each other apart (right and left). Thank you!
I love the idea of small govt, uplifting those without a voice or feel hopeless right now, and speaking up for issues that are deserved to be talked about while not selling my beliefs / morals in compromise talks.
It is useless to get upset over who he is. That's simply the fact. He's going to be the president and he's the kind of guy he is.

Trump has always been a bit uncouth, and ideally it would be nice to have a more well-spoken president. I think most Trump supporters would agree with that. But America correctly decided that Trump's lack of refinement was a minor and relatively unimportant issue compared to the wholesale destruction of the country under Obama and Biden. Obama was very well-spoken, but that just made him a better liar as he sold out America. Bush wasn't much better either.
America reelected Trump because the majority supports his policies. Everything else is just noise. Biden destroyed the US energy sector and allowed and encouraged 15 million illegal immigrants into the country in a 3.5 year period, greatly contributing to inflation and the destruction of American jobs. Dozens of major, decades old American companies that employed millions of Americans have or will soon go bankrupt due to Biden's policies. Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep will be lucky to survive 2025, and we are close to GM closing all remaining American plants.
Americans are tired of being sold out by establishment politicians on both sides of the aisle, which is why Trump won the election. That's all that matters. And it's a done deal, so there's no point in complaining about it now. If you didn't vote for Trump, you almost certainly voted for people whose policies were so bad that Trump's victory was assured.

@DryGermanGuy Inflation is still much higher than the 1.4% it was when Trump was president. It was at 9.9% most of the time Biden was in office. It was probably more but the Biden admin cooked the books. The crime stats were cooked by the FBI that conveniently left out democrat cities like Chicago and NYC in their counts, gas is no where near the 1.99 it was when Trump was president. I never thought I would see gas under 2 bucks a gallon again. My wife filled up yesterday at 3.29. We were all better off when Trump was president. Why is it so hard to admit that?
@exitseven I don't know how you think the economy works, but it's not instantaneous. Trump inherited the low inflation from Obama. Then, it increased under him. In 2020, you really started to see it climb, and it didn't slow down when Biden first took office. The inflation under Biden was a result of 2020, which I should remind you, was while Trump was still in office.

Almost like it started in 2020 and continued from there, as I've said. Almost like it happened as a result of the previous presidency, which it did. If the economy goes to shit one week into your presidency, it's because the previous president fucked up. Also note that it was even lower during Obama's term. The fact that you think it skyrocketing at the very beginning of Biden's term shows me you really don't understand how the economy works. This caused uncertainty and dried up investment capital and cause stock prices to plummet and oil to skyrocket. As soon as that happened the price of fuel doubled and once that cost was added on to everything else , prices on everything went up. It was Biden that was the cause. .
Biden shut down US energy with 3 of the 42 executive orders he signed his first day in office.. It took less than a day for markets to react, because even a 5 year old can figure out that if you massively reduce the supply, the cost for what's left will go up.
The Biden family has huge investments in Ukrainian oil and that raised the stock price of those shares and made the Biden's tens or hundreds of millions of dollars. But I'm sure you don't want to have that discussion...

Someone many republicans confused Hunter's tax and business legal issues with Joe being corrupt. Hunter's tax and business issues which he dealt with was unrelated and never linked to anything with his father.

I watched President Trump speak for 90 minutes yesterday. He covered important topics like the invasion of illegal aliens at our borders and the issues with the economy like inflation and high taxes. Then he took a different tone and talked about some of his pet peeves like shower heads that just let the water dribble out and washing machines that do not get clothes clean. He took a couple of well deserved swipes at Joe Biden before he told Hamas that id the American hostages were not released by Inauguration Day there would be hell to pay.
It is good to know that all this stuff is on his radar and he is looking for solutions.
