Guys, what do we think of trumps tariff plan?

I agree to a point that if countries that are doing things to harm us don't concede to some degree then tariffs should apply.

In most cases this will get the ball rolling to get some things done. I don't expect them to actually occur, the 2 countries will work out new policies.

I support putting tariffs on Mexico if they keep accepting tons of immigrants from Central and South America into Mexico and then let caravans of these people march to the USA and attack our border. Hold Mexico accountable to help us stop this. I've already heard Mexico will start helping with this and not let it happen as much.

I doubt the tariffs will occur, in most cases, just the threat will help us get more of what we want.

@DrPepper12 To bring foreign products that cost less because of dumping products onto our markets, cheaper because of government backing or child labor, to bring the prices into line with our prices so foreign products do not have an unfair advantage, or to raise the price so their product is so high we won't buy them, so they will have to agree to our wishes.

John Deere has cancelled plans to build a plant in Mexico, the President of Mexico has turned back two big caravans that were heading for our southern border and Justin Trudeau has flown to Mar A Lago to kiss President Trumps ring. I say so far so good.

Many people have tried explaining to him that the buyer pays the tariffs, not the seller, bur he just can't understand even the simplest things.

It's a valid negotiating tactic to bring about changes from countries that aren't dealing fairly with the US.

The people most upset about the tariffs are also the big fans of "taxing corporations".
