That's not true. You are actually supposed to clear brush from around your home. But there is an ordinance against clearing brush in certain weather when power tools are at risk of igniting dry brush.

I clear mine in the late Spring/early Summer, before the weather gets too hot and the brush becomes too dry.

There’s a lot of misinformation floating around regarding the fires and California regulations. Some true and some false. I do know that clearing out trees and brush isn’t allowed in some areas, but it’s not universal. People from CA should weigh in on this topic.

There is a fire ordinance that prohibits people from clearing brush during specific days because it becomes its own fire risk. You are welcome to clear it out any other day though when there is not a large risk of you causing a fire while clearing it out.

Well, the opinions tell you that it is even required that you clear it, just not in weather where the tools might start a fire. Yet your update suggests you still believe the nonsense in your question.

In this particular case. 25 inches, 25 feet or even 2.5 miles. Possibly wouldn’t have done a lot to slow down these fires. Especially when the embers are being reported for flying over two miles!
Very little common sense preventive measures, outdated power grids and cutting funding. Doesn’t seem to show much intelligence on the people in charge. Not like this is the first rodeo on wild fires.
