How were biracial ''white'' people treated during slavery and segregation.. what happened to them?

I've been wondering about that part of history. Whatever happened to them? I'm referring to those that had a black and white parent but came out with looking white. They're not white though. They're biracial with fair skin tone.

Several likely had some African features such as super curly hair and the facial looks. Overally how they they treated? What happened to them? Or did many of them passed as Caucasians aka white passing?

If the mixed race child was born to a black female slave and a white father the child was considered a slave too. They were born into slavery. They were their mothers owners property. So usually their slave owners were their own fathers, as usually it was the slave owner who fathered these kids. He could keep them or sell them or do whatever as with any other slave. Often these kids would be treated less brutally though and they often got the higher status chores.

If the mixed child was born to a white mother and a black slave father the child was born free.

Well they were likely absorbed into either the black population or into the white population or both. Think most black pin America have at least 1 white ancestor in there somewhere.

That's actually a very good question that I genuinely never thought about and don't know the answer to. But I would imagine they were allotted certain privileges that full blooded blacks didn't have. This isn't as unusual as you may think as believe it or not, there were blacks who owned salves as well

The very lightest passed for white and are now considered Caucasian if their African heritage didn't some how come out;most light-skinned biracial folk became black society's Brahmins due to their lighter skin, which got them better jobs, education and status in black and mainstream American;darker-skinned biracial people were seen and treated as horribly as I would have been and other obviously black folk were treated in Pre-Civil Rights America.
