Well, I've been sick recently, and it's interesting, but I don't crave vegan foods. Which might tell you something. Your body knows what is wants, and with the likes of say vegan cheese which you're ill, well it knows it is garbage.

But really, this is a question of nuance, which obviously eludes most people.

I think most people in the 'spiritual community' who are in anyway reasonable about these kinds of things, would reckon that some form of animal products are necessary in some form for grounding. Whether that is eggs and cheese. I know the conditions of egg farming usually isn't great, but generally ethically speaking, I can't see how it is that bad.

I could write a lot on this, but.

I do think generally a plant based diet is pretty cleansing. Then perhaps you could argue eating animal foods is strengthening. The body generally needs a good balance. I would say plant based is a good foundation, with some animal products necessary in moderation. It is quite interesting to note that Russell Brand has apparently gone onto a carnivore diet. I find it interesting these switches from extremes. So it would make sense that a purely carnivore or vegan diet would feel good at the start if you've been at the opposite end of the extreme. Then people become emotionally invested and dogmatic in it, rather than listening to their own body.

Obviously, stay away from the ultra processed vegan foods. But I would tend to find that if I ate more towards veganism then you'd be mostly getting your protein from beans. My body doesn't like it. And I think as a general rule, your body craves variety.

Then there are obvious health implications from over-eating meat. See how to prevent and cure heart disease which is an excellent book. People eat too much saturated fat, and it's not normal for people to be so ill in their 40s, 50s, 60s. People getting strokes and heart attacks at that kind of age. That obviously is diet and animal food related. I think cheese tastes great. But the idea that it is any kind of health food is highly questionable. I would not eat that more than once or twice per week if you're serious for your health. The idea that we should be eating milk for the calf of another animal as adults is highly questionable, too.

Depends. As soon as they get lions to stop killing for meat, I'll go for vegan!

Joking aside, veganism basically has become a cult more interested in pontificating, than actually doing anything productive.

Most of the "food" is horrible, and artificially flavoured - not to mention requiring carcinogenic ultraprocessing. So I can't see the cult being around for many decades.

As for the premise of veganism, it's laughable at best. Humans are not vegetarians. While yes we have come a long way in improving meat farming, and a lot more to be done, trying to "force" change has never worked in history for such issues.
