@NimbleOcelot you are treating people as if they are citizens of the country. I don't know of a country I can sneak into, use up their resources? I think the difference is global thinking vs national. If we can get to a point where the globe is one big country and we can choose to go whever we want, then ok. As it is, there are boundaries. If you like the idea of "global" ... then would you support USA buying/merging all of south america and Canada into one country? That would greatly expand the options for millions and then economics, land will drive people to where they most like to be. Nothing will be fair due to inequality, but under one nation, the movement would be permitted as well as resource allocation.

@NimbleOcelot you lost me there. if we screw ourselves by removing hard working people that are getting us cheaper food, doing lower end jobs... that will show up real fast in prices and it will be resolved by legal immigration. There is a drug problem going on for decades across the border and it's been worse with fentanyl. You either make a stand to shut down illegal activity or allow the flow. Dont compare something to nothing. If you lost a loved one to a drug or to a criminal, you are liable to prioritize the options differently. You have to respect that some people think different... and voted as such. I have immigrants and likely illegals working for me, I don't know... didn't check their badge. I hope they get to stay, but if not, I hope they get legal re-entry. If not, we will be mowing our own yard for a while and that's that. The presidents job is to control that border and the economy in essence. It's their job! ITS THEIR JOB! The prior guy did not do that job. Every one before him said they would but struggled with it. Like I asked... do you support the merging/purchase of the majority of south america and Canada? The free flow of north america! Every president has done battle with this issue, in different ways.. all the videos are there. Biden was the most permitting and resulted in billions of US resources going to those not rightfully here. What a waste, waste of their lives trying, waste of time, waste of $. I'm not even talking about the ramifications from removing workers, which will be significant. I'm talking about how this is the only real issue republicans care about, even though Trump's policies are going to raise your cost of living by a ton. Tariffs destroying our economy, and the tax dollars required for such an endeavor increasing your tax burden, which he already said would happen. He's bringing in billionaires to run the government, which shows you where his interests lie. The republicans stopped any good border bill that Biden tried to pass, admittedly. He does not care about the country. He only cares about making himself look good and power. He also admitted to rigging the election, which is now being looked into, so there's that.
I don't feel like watching the entire thing for a single portion on the argument, especially when this is all just talk. Why did Trump tell republicans to reject Bidens bill to strengthen the border if he really cares?

As well, there was $ in it for Ukraine many didn't agree with and don't know what else. @Alwayreckles93 I'm protestant, not Catholic. My mother was Catholic, and most Christians cuss, believe it or not. Also, you accept people for things they can't control, like their skin color. You don't accept them for being bad people, such as being Nazi or supporting a known Nazi, or supporting getting rid of immigrants at the cost of the American people, even if they happen to deport some Americans along the way, and no matter what happens to those immigrants and Americans.

Reagan is literally the reason why the divide in income has grown to such staggering heights. If you think nothing they did affected you, it's because you haven't paid attention or realized that they were the reason it happened to you.
Fortunately I'm in a fairly privileged demographic, and where I'm not my local government was already on the cutting edge of the shitshow, so not much will change for me personally because of the orders so far. Obviously things like the climate stuff will screw everybody over though...
Hmm - global stock markets or global insurance premiums probably would be the only things to potentially affect me negatively as "an Aussie" - sighs.

My healthcare , me and others like me might loose our healthcare because we cannot afford the insurance premiums. Loose our healthcare so rich billionaire motherfuckers like Musk can get tax cuts.

My wifes parents retired early and they had to wait a couple years before Medicare but I can't remember if the age was 65. Good luck. I would see if you could pare down to like an HSA plan where it's cheaper and more pay as you go type thing.
