Well, first thing to know: #1 benefactor of DEI, and Affirmative Action (R. I. P.) as well, BY FAR, are WHITE women.
DEI also is not about quotas, or hiring less qualified people. It’s seeking out recruitment in certain demographics, or let’s say there’s a tie between applicants at a job…. to break the tie you may want to look at what your company looks like and bring in a differing perspective. If it’s 99% straight white men, and someone other than that makes the grade maybe you choose them over the white guy.
And if your response is “but that’s unfair for the white guy!”…. look, I’m a straight white American man for 45 years now. I have enjoyed every possible advantage in our society, that others simply don’t have access to, directly or indirectly as a result of me looking like Hitler’s dream Aryan.
More importantly, I’ve NOT faced DISadvantages others have for the same reason. I went to inner city schools early on, the teachers are paid to show up and leave. Later I got a taste of suburban public school…. INFINITELY better education and resources and just general overall effort put into us. And I went to a private high school for football, and that was like “college prep” level shit.
The most important thing to remember, and they don’t like getting called out for it but it doesn’t make it untrue: straight white men always have and still do run this country. It all runs through people just like me, with not many exceptions. And unfortunately, we’ve proven ourselves not to be trustworthy in that role to not discriminate. Discrimination laws and measures exist BECUASE discrimination is still rampant in our society. We’re better about saying “look, I don’t care if you’re white, black, green, or purple…”, but that’s disingenuous lip service. I’m with white people all the time now that I’m a hockey player, white men often with jobs in boundaried industries who could be in charge of hiring…. and they say ignorant shit ALL THE TIME. Racial stuff mostly, but also women, and sexual orientations or whatever term we settled on. And it’s not always just an edgy joke, they mean it.
I have a friend who’s also a new hockey player, Black dude, and I was so worried about bringing him around places I skate. It’s not that anyone is malicious, he’s a super nice guy and gets along great with everyone, they all like him….. but it’s like every other week they bring up that he’s Black and playing hockey. Total strangers sometimes.
We borrowed a goalie from the group skating in the hour before us last Friday, and the goalie doesn’t know him from a hole in the wall, and he’s calling him “Anson Carter”, a former Black NHLer. Is he burning a cross on his lawn? No. But why do you even bring up his race? Like, “Hey, I couldn’t help but notice you’re Black!” Like wtf, dude? Just let him play and don’t make a fucking spectacle of him like his a circus act🙄
We just simply are not anywhere near a post-discrimination world, on all kinds of demographic levels, so it should absolutely NOT just be left up to the discretion of straight white dudes who mostly run everything.
I know people will roll their eyes at that, but seriously…where’s the lie? Anyone who says, “bUt iT’s REVERSE DiScRiMiNaTiOn!” …. politely …. shut the fuck up. Like seriously, just shut the fuck up. Don’t even fix your mouth to claim you face anything like others do, for the entire history of forever. Even if you’re a poor and uneducated white guy, you still have a leg up on poor uneducated anybody else. In work, in society, all of it. It’s just built-in for us. I’ve been called back for every job I ever applied to, likely because my name is unmistakably white, I don’t have any extraordinary qualifications or education.
Someone will undoubtedly comment and call me a “woke libtard” or some other stupid shit, but again, I sure can’t find the lie. People claiming they want “meritocracy” are usually white people who think they’re inherently more qualified than anyone else could possibly be, which is ignorant in and of itself, the assumption that “not a straight white guy” = “unqualified employee.” These folks know they have an advantage and don’t want to give it up, and fear they’d have to be better than they are to compete in a fair job market. If you’re making money winning track meets because you’re wearing sneakers and everyone else is in steel-toed work boots, you’re gonna fight like hell to avoid anyone else getting to run in sneakers. It’s really just cloaked white supremacy.
Moment of silence for all the straight white men harmed by this reply🙏

🎶We used have all the money and land…. And we still do, but it’s not as fun now😭🎶💯💯💯💀💀💀
I won't say there's a problem with "DEI", but I will simply echo this from David Brooks:
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/opinion/trump-executive-orders.html
As time has gone by, I’ve developed more and more sympathy for the goals the populists are trying to achieve. America’s leadership class has spent the last few generations excluding, ignoring, rejecting and insulting a large swath of this country.
The point in this is that, for 4 decades now, the American "Political Establishment", both Conservative and Liberal, have been ignoring the issues of the rank-and-file.
Since Reagan became President, the rich have gotten richer and the middle-class began to die out because, primarily, of GOP policies, but not entirely; automation has had a big impact too and, ideally, everyone should have benefitted from that with productivity savings being passed along to workers or consumers. Instead, it has primarily gone to the owners.
Meanwhile, the Democrats were either complicit with the GOP or too focused on issues that do not affect most people.
So, what does this have to do with "DEI"?
Yeah, we definitely have had problems alienating various groups in our society, but that's an abstract issue to the people who aren't alienated. They are more concerned about the tangible issues that affect them and their family every day. Put another way, "I don't give a shit about #BLM or #MeToo or #DEI right now. Why the fuck am I paying $7.00 for a carton of eggs and what are you going to do about it?
This is why a populist like Trump was going to come to power.
In 2016, we were given a choice between two populists: Trump and Bernie Sanders.
The GOP Establishment suffered the stupidity that David Brooks discussed above. That's why, again and again, Trump was winning primaries.
Meanwhile, the DEM Establishment, led primarily by women, were obsessed that this was time for a female President so, not only did they go all-in for Hilary Clinton, they deliberately torpedoed Sanders during the primaries so he could not win. They anointed Hilary the same as they anointed Harris. That alienated DEM-leaning voters - especially the populists who are ever-growing.
Thus, only one populist remained: Trump. And that's why he was elected in 2016... and in 2024...
DEI is all well-and-good, but it's abstract and doesn't affect many voters many male and White, but also many people who have to worry about day-in, day-out living like worrying about the cost of a fucking egg.
So, remember this because it is an important part of human nature:
People worry about the tangible problems that affect them now and not abstract problems that are "far-off" or that "don't affect me". And they will vote that way.
DEI is an abstraction so it isn't tangible and many people are not going to give a shit about it and just think those whining about DEI are just that - whiners who don't have "real problems".

DEI was a turd to begin with. They give it different names like "Affirmative Action" to make it sound not so bad but why not just call it what it really is, Racial Discrimination..
MLKjr had a dream that, one day, the color of one's skin would not be important.
DEI is exactly the opposite of that, and is wrong.
There has to be a satirical comic of a white liberal pointing at a black man screaming "He needs help" and a white conservative asking "Why, cause he's black?"
Touché
i agree. leftist, socialist ideas are always good "in concept" but always terribly fail in reality.
DEI was never a good idea as it was bound to create problems from the very beginning. There is a reason DEI is framed as "Didn't Earn It".
Good heavens look at what this wanna be emperor started
It’s just discrimination just like affirmative action
