Adding all those totals, divided by 153.8M people who paid taxes in 2022, just to get a rough number of taxpayers….

We all paid 47 CENTS each, on average, for ALL OF THAT.

Alright then, I will do you a favor and address the first points that comes to me.

"Ghost Towns on the Government's Dime". That is just government buildings. It is completely normal for governments and its various agencies to have a lot of buildings available and quite frankly the metric Rand Paul used to justify what is "empty" and what isn't is really fucking stupid. "Square feet per employee" my ass. How the fuck are you going to account for something like a warehouse with "Square feet per employee"?

This is entirely to be expected. Governments are not corporations, they do not and SHOULD not run "efficiently". Without going into case by case basis which I am sure would undermine Rand Pauls point even more since there are very legitimate reasons why buildings might be empty most the time time but even if there was no actual good argument, that is still fine. Why? Because the Government has slack capacity. If the Government needs something then they should already have it as a "just in case". If a disaster strikes then they need to have the resources. If they buy 5 million cheeses for whatever reason then they need someplace to store it etc..

For the smooth operation of the government they require resources, including office and warehouse space that is more than what is usually required. The argument that the government should cut their "wasteful spending" and only maintain what they currently use is fucking insanity.

The government has a major incentive to encourage its citizens to go outside, socialize and exercise. It is a common and effective strategy to use public money to build things like football fields or whatever for local communities. This is just that and I dont even know why anyone is making a fuss over it. Is it just because the sport is called "Pickleball" and it sounds silly? Grow up.

I am not even going to bother looking into this thing. They are upset that the Department of state paid Global Disinformation Index 330k dollars. There is a billion and one reasons why the government might want to purchase services and products from a corporation and 330k just sounds like they contracted them for something which is entirely expected and useful for the government. The fact that this money is technically funding an organization that advises advertisers on where to buy ads from is a pathetically weak argument and has nothing to do with the government supposedly "wasting" 330k dollars since that was presumably in exchange for something.
