In Tennessee, a citizens arrest can be conducted if there is reasonable suspicion of a felony, even if one is not witnessed in front of the person making an arrest.

Crossing illegally into the United States is a felony. It is a federal crime, not a state crime, but I didn't see where TN law differentiated between the two.

Just because you can make a citizen's arrest doesn't mean it's a good idea. You could end up in serious trouble yourself and open yourself up to a lawsuit. So if you do it, you'd better be damn sure of yourself.

First, it is not a felony to cross illegally into the US. Unless MAYBE they have multiple offenses or something else that increases the severity.

Second, most illegals in the US did not cross the border illegally. They entered legally, but did not leave when they were supposed to (for example their visa or visa waiver term expired). That is a different and much less severe offense than crossing illegally.

Trying to arrest someone because you think they might be illegal is a really stupid thing to do. You could rightfully be in far more trouble than they are.

There is no need for a witch hunt based on total speculation. Let the professionals do it. If you know for sure that a company has a bunch of illegals working there, then maybe you can report it.

A million people who don't know what the hell they are doing making citizen's arrests is the last thing we need.

The problem is that you don't know if they entered the country by crossing the border illegally, or if they entered another way. So it would be very risky to perform such an arrest.

I can see your point. It is like flipping a coin. I led an illegal into a trap one time late at night. I witnessed a vehicle disabled in the middle of the road. The driver was intoxicated and I highly suspected he was illegal. I had him follow me to a gas station where I had deputies corner him. It was freaking sweet!

Deputies? Then they probably arrested him just for the traffic violation (s). They have to be federal (or deputized by the federal government) to arrest someone for immigration violations.

No, he was charged with DUI and it showed on his mugshot he was being held for ICE. This was like the first year Trump was in office. If Xiden or some other crazy leftist was in office, he would have likely been released and given handouts as an apology.
