Literally it is a bad deal, also a judge blocked it temporarily so it will take time to kick in unless SCOTUS shatters it completely in the end then it is definitely not happening.

Okay so, Trump is offering a trade of a high tier position in the US Govt with a steady pension for quitting in return you get 8 months pay…. If this was Biden and you were asked to give up your position, would you also not take the 8 months when compared to a steady govt pension? Exactly, this is just a bad offer.

Now you might be saying “Trump is always right, this looks bad though he always has a plan”. No, he had concepts of a plan for what should happen after repealing our nation’s healthcare so what makes you so confident this time he has a real plan. It is just a bad deal. Trading a steady pension for 8 months pay for retirement is just bad.

My dad was a top machinist for North American Aviation, which got bought out by Rockwell Intl., which was later bought out by Boeing. At some point, Boeing downsized and offered him a generous early retirement buyout. He eagerly accepted it and retired with amazing benefits.

No idea at this point. But at the state level, I've seen a fairly large number take a buyout. Same in the private sector.

One thing I'm curious about is what kind of loopholes are involved. When I went back to college in the early 90s, they were offering buyouts. A large percentage (30%?) of my teachers took the buyout but were still teaching. They simply went from full time to part time, and I assume less benefits.

So at the federal level, how many will remain part time? How many will simply become contractors doing exactly the same job they did before. This is super common for people who leave the employ of the government. The government can end up paying MORE money for the same employee doing the same work.

that is the thing about the government. There are layer upon layer of bureaucrats. The majority of them have been "working from home " for the last 5 years. You could fit their institutional knowledge on the head of a pin.

"working from home" is the new industry standard because it is more productive. Also I dont trust for a second that the people who will be fired is the menial rubber stampers when Trump is trying to eject the ones with actual power and authority within the bureaucracy.

Most people that work from home might do an hour of real work. Most of the time they are watching TV, working around the house or sleeping.

I think that you believe that people who work from home don't work hard, and I can tell you you are quite wrong about that.

He is reducing waste, something he knows how to do. In the past there have been attempts to make the government smaller and more efficient. It has always failed because it was always government bureaucrats that were in charge.
