Trump does stuff like this to see who's behind him, it's a way of eliminating anyone who isn't loyal. Similarly it let's him gauge how the public react, is he going to lose support among his base or will they support on anything. And that's the real danger of his actions, If his own side cheer for renaming of seas, plans to buy Greenland and Canada, or evicting millions from their country then it convinces him they'll support a military attack on Denmark or a genocide.
The Democrats have had support on much crazier things than renaming seas or trying to buy other countries' territory. Also, it's not THEIR country if they're here illegally.
