Modern Canada is a run by terrible people, its "culture" to the extent it does exist for 150 years now was defined by anti-Americanism.
Canada has betrayed our trust and today Canada functions as a not so secrete narco state.
With almost no port or border security Canada imports untold amounts of drugs which it then refines and ships across the worlds largest undefended border.
The same Canada in recent years also attempted to host military training with our Chinese enemies on this continent!
These attacks upon our people both intentional and unintentional reflect the true nature of the long standing Canadian elite as reflected in their anti-American ethos.
No civilization founded upon hate of anther can long live in peace with that other civilization.
Canada is not our friend and the largely undefendeable border between us makes managing them as the enemy they are prohibitively costly.
We should therefore recognize that the future security, prosperity, and happiness of the people of North America requires we finally compete the American revolution and kick those monarch loving anti-American elite off our continent once and for all…
It is time we implement war plan Orange and see to it that King Charles has no place among the land of the free...
Canada MUST BE DESTROYED!
The way you've phrased the question, it sounds like you're asking about demand for "US-made autos" in those two countries.
Anyway, it's not like those supply chains are just going to disappear, if that's what you're asking, although there may be shifts of some manufacturing back to the US. And clearly Canada and Mexico benefit heavily from US automakers' investment in their countries.
I'm not sure about Canada, but there is significant investment in Mexico by European automakers, primarily Volkswagen, but in the unlikely event that tariffs do force the relocation of a lot of auto-related manufacturing back to the US, Canada can't just replace it with European automakers' investment because they too will face tariffs.
What if Canada stops buying American autos in response
When you say "Canada", do you mean there would be an official embargo, or an unofficial grass-roots boycott?
But, yes, that would be a problem. If I were in the US government, the trade relationship with Canada wouldn't be one I'd be concerned with, as long as China isn't able to use Canada as a back door to the US market.
That might happen if Trump keeps trying to rear end Canada
Well, it looks like Trump wants Canada to do something about its border with the US. The Liberal government's hostility is probably the underlying problem and has apparently necessitated the threat of tariffs.
But given Canada's greater dependence on the US as opposed to vice versa, I don't think an official embargo of US goods would end well for either side, but especially not for Canada.
No. Have you seen the cost of parts with them being made out of country and since trumps Covid? They have to make up those savings and build in America? Not happening. Trump is going to put companies out of business left and right. Is he going to bail all of them out of bankruptcy?
No. From what my dad explains (his company makes tools for auto assembly) that the system is so intertwined.
Trump is a fucking moron.
Yes, North American automakers are very intertwined Canada, USA and Mexico. The CEO of Ford is in panic mode right now because of tariffs. If Canada starts buying European autos more the big 3 will face huge losses.
Yep, with the retard at the helm, we are doomed.

American automobile companies would do just fine. If you look at Chevrolet which is one of the largest brands to be imported to both Mexico and Canada, Canadian and Mexicans sales account for roughly 1% each of GM's vehicle sales each year. So they would sell 2% less vehicles each year if they were completely cut off from the Canadian and Mexican markets. Obviously it hurts growth a little and the bottom line, but it doesn't destroy the company.
Oh no no, actually GM sells approximately 15% of its products in Canada, the figures for the other 2 are likely similar. You are making up numbers, you probably like Canada has 5000 people lol 😝
No, US automakers will crater and go bankrupt without Canada and Mexico. And China and India and South Korea and Vietnam.
But tRump and his MAGA filth are ignorant of that just as they are ignorant about what drives inflation and economics in general. They don't know and they don't wanna know. they only want to "own the libs". Even when it kills them. That work for me.
The moment they see the outcome of their choices is gonna be priceless.
They'd be fine. They'd be better off actually. The parts that are produced in Mexico are piece of junk.
If I'm honest, I have no idea what Canada's role is, but I guarantee we would be fine.
It's Mexico and Canada who wouldn't survive without us.
While several automakers got their start making cars in America, you won't find any vehicles on the market that are 100% American-made. Today, manufacturers outsource their car production. So brands with American origins now make their cars in other countries. A large portion of the manufacturing of American cars is done in Mexico. The US car manufacturers would not survive without Mexico.
Well, that’s not a surprise. Canada buys 15% of all GM vehicles, the sales numbers for the other 2 are likely similar.
European cars have a good enough reputation. But I believe that Japan (and perhaps China) have the last laugh.
Locally, I see a rising number of electric articles on the road of which I never heard of.
In a few decades we may see the entire car industry being turned outside in.
No. They all need each other. Trump is a zero sum moron who doesn't understand the most fundamental economic concepts:
1) Comparative advantage
2) labor & consumers are the same group.
3) Tarriffs are the worst way to raise revenue
Instead :
1) He beleives in the "lump of labor" fallacy
2) He beleives in trickle down bullshit
In the case of Toro (understand this is not a car company but is manufacturing) they have trimmed fat at the executive level and had begun to bring the manufacturing back to the U. S. from Mexico due to the imposed tariffs. I have not recently heard what has happened since Trump relaxed the Mexican Tariffs. My assumption would be that will halt bringing manufacturing jobs back if it's cheaper to keep it Mexico.
Americans will just make their own parts. It will save money in the long run and having that kind of control over every component they use will increase quality and reliability.
Well here’s some actual numbers. There are 40 million people in Canada. 85% of Canadian adults own cars, most families have 2 cars. Is this really a market that the big 3 can afford to lose?
I for one are sick of your poorly built gas guzzlers that are clunky and are behind in technology. If America want to act like a bunch of petulant children I’m happy to see your auto industry receive a death blow.
@goaded Yes, When i was in grad school in 2011 we used Boeing as a case study. At the time they produces all components that went into the construction of their aircraft. Everything was either made by Boeing or by companies that the sourced locally. They were beginning to transition to outsourcing a lot of the labor intensive components to companies in China. They would design the airplanes to be more modular in design. This would make more profit for Boeing. The first thing that came to mind was "What could go wrong?"
No, people are complaining because people are dying, food aid is going to waste, and Musk clearly doesn't understand the jobs of people he's firing. He's fired an IG who was responsible for recovering tens of billions of dollars for the government and people tasked with keeping the US nuclear weapons stockpile. Now they can't get in touch with the latter to re-hire them because of their unbelievable incompetence.
@goaded This is just noise from the democrats. DOGE is getting close to the truth and they are trying every trick in the book to slow him down. An IG who actually recovers money for the taxpayers is laughable.
When this is over, there will be a smaller government that will work for the people instead of the other way around. This was long overdue.
No, it's not. Tell me how firing the people who maintain the nuclear arsenal and respond to nuclear accidents makes anyone safer.
Firing the IGs (illegally - the law says there has to be cause and congress be notified beforehand) is simply to stop the people who actually root out corruption. They're even Trump nominees that have been fired!
I blame the idiot who negotiated the most recent trade deal with Mexico and Canada.
Who was that again?
Without Canada yes, without Mexico no, because they need cheap workers.
Well there are over 40 million Canadians and 90% of us own at least one car. Is that a market that the big 3 are able to lose?
Not without significantly raising prices of their vehicles.
I hate American vehicles already, wouldn’t want to pay more than they already are
Well it’s good there are other choices for you and everyone for the matter.
I agree
I’m thinking of going hybrid for my next car and downsizing from an suv back to a sedan. I want to give less of my money to gas and oil companies. I’m not ready for full electric yet but in ten years I’m sure the tech will be more up to my liking regarding infrastructure, reliability, insurance costs etc
I can understand why you would want to go full electric if you live in a rural area or charging stations are scarce.
Maybe if we Canuck and Mexico had our own version of NAFTA, it would hurt America enough to make it pare the size of their tanks posing as street vehicles.
They will adjust and reopen closed factories.
lol. Have you had your testosterone checked recently?
More of a man than you’ll ever be incel
Not driving around town in som faggoty Euro car.
Waist your money driving an ugly gas guzzler, euro cars are way better in gas and more reliable. American cars are so shitty they can’t be sold in the EU
It’s “waste”. And yeah if your country is the size of an American city you probably don’t need much of a car.
Americans never fail to amaze me with your ignorance and stupidity. You’re a bunch of entitled hypocrites who think they’re owed the world.
Here’s a news flash, most of the world hates Americans. If you decide to visit another country in the next 4 years don’t expect to be treated like royalties.
Here's a BIGGER news flash. No one gives a fuck what the world thinks. And wait, weren't you just pretending to be an American?
Actually I am. Im both Canadian and American.
Good than stay home you
ASSHOLE
So get out of my country and go back to that shithole Canada.
I hope your president gets shot in his filthy mouth
You shitlibs are too weak to do anything

I want to see MAGA women crying as Trumps lifeless body is bleeding out
Ah, so this is where it stems from. You can't get laid.
Incorrect. No trouble in that department. I’m not an ugly sack of shit like Trump
I'm looking at your profile pic, I think you're lying lol.

Anthony Fauci is an Human Rights champion ☺️
how do his balls taste, homo?
i only buy none American I won't ever. Buy ford. Cause Fonder supported the German during World War II.
Tell me you don't know how tariffs work without telling me you don't know how tariffs work.
They would. Their factories in Mexico would concentrate more on other markets in the future.
It would be tough because there's so many fine Canadian cars on the market.
We would survive, but with crap cars that barely make it past 5 years.
I’m actually sick of pay $40,000 for a shitbox American car. You can get an entry level European car for the same price now days that’s more economical.
It is criminal how American auto makers over charge for inferior products that don't match the price tag.
I agree. I was actually considering a Mercedes Benz for my next car. First of all, I can actually get a car (sedan) and it won’t be some railway car of a vehicle I don’t need. Not to mention it will get better life expectancy and fuel economy.
Not sure. But it's not great economic policy
I think you're wrong
