Why you won't see Manufacturing jobs come back

1) Tariffs - Foreign countriies don't pay THEM , Americans do.

2) Any item made in America costs more than those imported. Americans always buy lowest price item. Always have and always will.

Manufacturing is never coming back to the US without immigration because Americans don't want those jobs. My brother-in-law drives a forklift in a manufacturing plant in SE Asia and the minimum academic requirement to drive a forklift is Bachelors Degree. In the US forklift drivers couldn't pass a drug test. Tariffs have made all input costs higher causing the US to lose its competitive edge. Do you want you cars brakes to be made by a high school dropout in the US earning $20 an hour or by a university educated engineer in Asia earning $20 a day? Trumps policy is not realistic in the global economy.

There are hundreds of factories being built that have already supplied thousands of construction jobs and will provide good paying jobs. It will take more than a few months to turn this around since the US had spent the last 30 years shipping entire industries overseas. These new facilities will nt be like the old post WW2 factories but will get a high tech makeover. The objective is to increase productivity by using technology. The real challenge will be finding enough workers to fill these new positions.

after amazon went 95% robot, every business wants to. it will cost a lot but it makes sense for some companies. what doesn't make sense is if all of them do it. there will be less people that can afford the product and they'll be lucky to break even before they have to stop production. that's with a smooth transition like amazon had. if you piss people off and they get a boycott going, then the company might tank faster. it really depends on what is manufactured.
