Is it scary how easy it is to get Americans to support a dictatorship?

Question

People claim that nothing Trump is doing is even remotely close to dictatorship and that he hasn’t tried to go against democracy despite things that have directly come out of his mouth and actions that we have all seen with our own eyes. Some even acknowledge what he’s trying to do but go along with it because he’s “saving” the country but let’s not forget dictators have used that same rhetoric before. Democracy is slowly fading away but hey at least we are getting rid of all those illegal aliens 👽.

We have to be realistic. Ukraine has already lost the war, every day that goes by more and more land is lost and people are being killed. Ukraine inchs toward total defeat.

There is and never has been any no prospect of victory against a country 3-4 times your size. Particularity if that country is effectively a dictatorship and thus need not be soo concerns with the cost of its war. Ukraine will lose this war it is just a question of how badly.

Thus far with the choice to fight it in the first place the Ukraine has suffered unrecoverable losses. When they could have caved to Russian demand until such time that they had secure an alliance where they didn't have to.

As far as the west and america is concerned Russia's losses are not a good thing either. If we were ever to contain a real threat like china, Having Russia nominally on our side and able to defend itself was critical.

Instead by fighting this war and weakening Russia we have pushed Russia into the Chinese client state status. This has made China a nation with an economy as big or bigger than our own a far more significant threat.

Backing the Ukraine after the war started to bleed Russia was wrong in every level.

Instead of a quick largely bloodless victory we had a long and drawn out war that has cost hundred of thousands of lives and destroyed much of the Ukraine.

Not surprising at all. Democracy is fragile and always under threat from within and outside forces. Everyone must be on guard constantly. In the USA the 3 branches of government are being slowly dismantled. The Supreme court , and Congress remain silent and incapable of cross checking the power of the Executive. The democratic doomsday clock in the USA is probably at about 2330 hours right now...

The US government is set up on lines of the old Roman Republic in which the president is in the role of first consual or dictator for a 4 year term, though not how the Romans used it that is how the us government uses it.

Not really, Trump has lived up to a policy commitment of radical transparency in his government; that's about as antithetical to a dictatorship as you can get.

But to your point, what's far scarier to me is how many more Americans are ready to support our government acting without accountability and disclosure to the public. That's what made the pandemic truly terrifying to me; it was the realization of just how many of my fellow Americans are suuuuuuper ready to accept absolute dumbshit explanations and cover stories because they just want to be told what to do.

Everything that President Trump is doing has a basis on law. Even the EO banning Birthright Citizenship has valid arguments that will be heard in court.
Trump has the approval of the country and the people that are screaming the loudest are the ones who have something to hide or something to lose.
