If you had the power to remove any specific type of people from the planet, who would they be and why?

I don't think I could use my power without complete perspective. Without total knowledge and insight, how could I execute justice appropriately? Who is the original violator? We are shaped by our environments and influences; who should bear the consequences for the evil humanity has wrought?

I can think of certain people in history that should not have been allowed to do the things they did, from my perspective. But what would the world have looked like without those actions? I don't know if it would have been better, or worse. I'm not justifying the actions, I'm thinking of what could have happened, if Hitler had not frightened away so many brilliant scientists prior to WWII with his extremist ideologies and crackdowns. If Germany or Japan had been in possession of atomic power before the US. If the war in Vietnam had not distracted the Chinese from the Indonesian coup that could have made the entire Far East and possibly Australia completely communist?

I can't objectively say. My impulse is evil people, but at what point does evil exist? In thought? In action? What degree of action? Most people believe they are good, no matter how evil they really are in hindsight. Most of them, in one way or another, justify their actions as helping or benefiting humanity on a grand scale.

Good question; I'm afraid I don't have a satisfactory answer.

Although you didn't ask for it, I'll share my opinion. Regardless of what hardships someone experiences in their life, there's still such a thing as accountability.

Let's assume a kid is molested during their childhood consistently. We all know that's wrong. And the kid does not like it either. They also know it's wrong. And then they grow up with those traumas. There's 2 ways they can react to it:

1) They are weak minded and continue doing that to others as a result of their past trauma or they become a serial killer or someone with psychotic tendencies.

2) They are strong willed, know the pain of what they went through, and would never wish it upon others.

There are people whose brains function with very different efficiencies and it's in us at the very start what our choices will be based on every scenario presented to us in our lives.

There are people who are consistently good and strong. Conversely, there are weak minded people who easily change terrible people not worth a penny in society. I would remove people with evil in their hearts. People are wired differently from birth.

If someone raped my kid, I wouldn't hesitate to kill them using cruel methods. Some people deserve to be removed from the planet and the world is better off without them. I honestly do not believe in rehabilitation.

@HawkPerception I agree with you, actually. I just got to thinking about the awful responsibility of that. It comes down to that question of goodness and whether people are basically good or not. Are there some people born evil? How do genetics and environment influence people? Are they good people who have one unbearable experience that snaps their view of life? Or is it always a series of triggers that develop into this invulnerable, impenetrable inhumanity that some people are eventually capable of? Those are complicated questions, and I think about them from time to time.

I strongly believe people are either born with different levels or good and bad. Some are all good, some all bad, and some with a mix of the two.

I believe you can come from a kind and supportive family and be raised in a great neighborhood with kind and supportive peers, and just have something missing in your brain which makes you more prone to violent behaviour towards others even if you have never been abused or anything.

People don't want to admit it because they want to believe we have freedom of choice. I personally believe it's the illusion of choice. We're wired from the day we're born to react to certain scenarios in different ways.

My brother and I come from the same family and lived in the same area, yet we have polar opposite personalities. I was always more shy growing up and he was always extremely extroverted. He had a large social group and I had a few good friends. Our views on life and the way we think are completely different. The way we interact with and treat people is different.

The same can be said about twins. They can be almost identical, but have different brains working with different efficiencies in different regions of the brain, so they could have very different personalities regardless of how similarly they're raised.

Let me be clear and say that I do think environment affects people to a great extent, but the primary cause for how we turn out is nature.

We're actually getting closer to understanding the brain with current technologies though and soon we may even be able to manipulate it and rewire it, so nature being greater than nurture may not always be true, even in the near future.

@HawkPerception I agree. The developments are very exciting for neuroplasticity and epigenetics. I'm no scientist or expert either, but science has always been a love of mine and what you point out is very true.

It's interesting that you have the perspective of good or evil being somewhat of a spectrum, rather than absolute. In my world, we were trained that all "non-believers" believe that humans are basically good (another example of black and white thinking in evangelical circles). But I think the majority of people would agree with your view, if they were honest. It seems obvious to me that some people seem to have a bent one way or another that is probably evident from a young age.

I think ultimately my struggle would be who am I to make the ultimate decision on existence or non-existence for millions of people, potentially. How might that event trigger other people to manifest evil? Could it? It's a Thanos moment, for sure.

My natural inclination is to eliminate pedos, rapists, serial killers, abusive relatives, liars, thieves, greedy, selfish people and so on. But I'd possibly eliminate myself, since I've got my own selfish areas going on, too. :D

Thank goodness this is hypothetical; my brain is starting to hurt... :D

I think I somewhat sympathize with Thanos' vision. But he said half of everything, good and evil, rich and poor, healthy and ill. I would only erase evil.

And this may sound strange... I do think that power can corrupt... the MAJORITY of people. But there are people that are genuinely good and can make good decisions that the majority resonate with consistently. It goes back to my "how-we're-wired" theory.

Although people will mostly disagree with me on this, I'm not against dictatorship. I would be completely fine if you were the dictator of my country. You are a moral, upright, and gentle woman. While I disagree on a couple things with you, I think that a dictatorship under someone with your views and values can only benefit society. It's completely hypothetical because I know you have no intention of ever making those kinds of decisions about people nor being a leader at all, so it's not like I'm encouraging you or anything. I'm just saying that there are certain people I think would be capable of it.

Just because the few cases of dictatorship never worked out doesn't mean they can't work at all.
