According to archeologists, and contrary to claims in the Torah/Talmud (Old Testament), the ancient Israelites never conquered anything.
But they were conquered by empires like Assyria, Babylon, Macedon, and Rome. They weren't driven out, though. Nobody gave a fuck about their religion.
The tiny kingdom of Israel ceased to exist 2500 years ago. The people merely assimilated.
The kingdom of Judea expanded a bit in about the 3rd century bc. It forced people to convert. It was the aggressor. Nobody was attacking it.
Rome finally put down a rebellion and destroyed the temple in Jerusalem, but it didn't drive out all Jews.
There were Arabs in Palestine way, way before Islam. Even during the Byzantine and Islamic periods, Christians, Jews and Muslims lived peacefully together and thrived, aside from the period during which the Crusaders conquered Jerusalem and some parts of Palestine.
Up until the 1930s, when Zionists started arriving in Palestine and excluding indigenous people, Muslims, Jews and Christians all lived heyas neighbors. There was no animosity toward Jews. But people started resenting the behavior of the European Zionist colonists.
It wasn't until 1948 that real trouble began. But it wasn't a war because nobody attacked Jews. It was the Zionist leadership who began their program of "de-Arabization" by destroying Palestinian hundreds of towns and villages, drivig Palestinians out of cities, slaughtering and outright executing people, stealing their property, and driving over 3/4 of a million people into refugee camps.
The so-called Israelis have continued that program for the past 77 years and have nearly succeeded in ethnically cleansing Palestine. But while doing so, it has always claimed to be "defending" itself.
Yes, the two state solution will never work. President Trump is trying to get the Palestinians to agree to be relocated. The alternative may be that they are exterminated by the Israelis.
I don't know what was even accomplished with the Vietnam war and no one even knew why we were there in the first place.
I have a very close friend who was in the Vietnam war for two years and I asked him what was the was about and he said he didn't know and that nobody knew.
Sometimes I have to wonder if when these men who start these wars liked playing army with their toy soldiers grew up only to have bigger toys and make their boyhood ideas come true as men.
I realize that it sounds preposterous but I can't help but to remember the saying
"Men will be boys but the only difference is the price of their toys"!!!
Palestine has only existed since 1958. Historically since the exodus Israel has been conquered quite a few times. British, Turks, Arabs, French, Arabs, Romans, Persians, Greeks Egyptians, assyrians, babylonians etc all conquered it at one time.
@Lliam Palestine is a latin Roman word, the Roman's only took over it 60 years before the birth of Christ so 2060 years maybe.
Historically Arabs lived in Arabia while various different Semitic people's lived in the region such as hebrews, caananites, moabites, philistines, edomites, amalkites, Rephaites.
The majority of Jews were expelled from Israel around 70 AD after the last Jewish revolt against Rome and the temple destroyed, they were spread out all over the globe from Spain to as far as China. Jews always mostly married within their own community as they were separate from European Christians and other groups in the countries they were in.
Muslim Arabs colonised Israel in 600 ad after the Byzantine empire list it, the French colonised Israel and Syria for maybe 100 years then eventually the turks too it over and finally the British and then the UN gave the Jews and Muslims the right to rule themselves for the first time in history in 1948.
Jews started to return to their historical homeland around 1900 buying land from the ottomans.
@gwendoline. You stated some factual information combined with some falsehoods and convenient spin. I'm not saying that you spun it on purpose, but you have obviously absorbed some falsehoods.
Read The Four Thousand Year History of Palestine by Nur Masalha.
Also note the geneticists have verified that almost no European Jews have any DNA from Judea or Palestine. They are the offspring of converts. Palestine is NOT their historic homeland.
There are other books that shed additional light on the Zionist "return", their goals and methods.
@Lliam not true at all. Tests were done on ancient hebrew graves and compared to modern Jews from outside Israel, Jews inside Israel and Samaritians. The DNA was almost identical and very distinct from Arabs. Arabs of course being from Arabia.

@Lliam it's not been debunked by anyone reputable. Should be obvious to you that Shlomo Sand is not a genetics proffessor, he's a historian. The Samaritians still live in Israel.
upload.wikimedia.org/.../Sofi_Tzadka.jpg
He doesn't have to. be geneticist. But he documented genetic research extensively with citations in his book. And he's an Israeli who didn't set out to debunk any Israeli/Zionist claims. His research simply led where it led and he is ethical enough to tell the truth.
Many Jews, Christians and Muslims in Palestine were actual descendants of ancient Israelites and Judeans. Over the centuries, some "Jews" converted to Christianity or Islam just like many people in Europe converted to Judaism.
@Lliam i looked him up. He's not even an middle eastern or ancient middle eastern historian, he's a historian on French history. He basically wrote a book on something he knows little about and made it as controversial as possible for maximum sales. Nobody in Europe was converting to Judaism, being non Christian was not something you wanted to be in medieval Europe. There was a massive historian of Jews out of Israel either as slaves, workers or refugees. Palestine as the Romans called it was part of Roman empire which is how thd early Jewish Christians spread the gospel and how Jews came to set up populations in north Africa, Spain and southern france as well as how Jews until very recently were to be found in Iraq, Iran and Syria. Jewish communities even came to be found in China because Jews were traders a long the silk road.
@Lliam yes. The rulers of the khazarian empire converted to Judaism but the majority of peasents were other. There's still Jewish groups in the mountains in the area after the Muslims took over and the populace converted to Islam. Yemen at on time was also a Jewish kingdom and a Jewish kingdom in eithiopia.
The history doesn't change. It's well documented from when the Romans destroyed the first temple to all the various Jewish communities that lived throughout the Roman Empire as far back as 60 AD. The Sephardic Jews for instance are recorded as living in Spain during the Roman period, the vandal period, the visigoth period, when the Muslims invaded and finally to when the Christians in Spain kicked them out and they went to live in North Africa.
Even Azkanazi Jews, there is historical evidence of them in Greece, Italy, france, the holy Roman empire, byzantine empire. England, Russia and so on all throughout history. It's all well documented, their trials and tribulations.
This guy purposefully wrote a book he knew would be controversial because controversy sells books.
"This guy purposefully wrote a book he knew would be controversial because controversy sells books?" Sure, that's it. That's one way to discredit scholarly research.
It was the inventors of Zionism in the late 19th century, not millions of Jews, who decided to turn Palestine into racist, theocratic colony. Jews around the world weren't longing to move to Palestine and create a homeland for Jews only.
@Lliam lol Jews around the world in the 19th century were being persecuted. Of course they dreamed of a homeland or somewhere they live free. Look at all the Russian polgroms or the kkk discrimination in America.
There were Jews already living in Palestine. The history of the Jews outside Palestine is one of moving somewhere that initially welcomed them but then after a while when they prospered they were forced out to somewhere else

The hundred years war lasted so long because it was profitable and those of noble birth were at relatively little risk, they were usually ransomed rather than killed. It was in essence just a game played by the rich with the lives of the poor and in that sense little has changed.
Uh, how has Israel been at war for thousands of years? It was an established state in 1948. Hmm….
When something has been fueled for generations, the war and hate machine runs itself. It would take a gigantic effort on both sides to stop it then.
Yup, all indications are that humans are genetically predisposed to war.
LoL, nope, you're right about England and France, but Palestine never existed as an independent country, and it never had a war against Israel until the 20th century.
I corrected myself after a similar reply, bu the Arab/Israeli conflict has been going on for many years with no end in sight... Sorry for my error
I see, it's ok, no problem 👍
That region is a lost cause. When they aren't in a war, they don't know what to do with themselves.
War is not something to make light of. It is a bad thing that needs to be eliminated.
You said they must like it. That is not a proven fact. You need to stop making light of a serious situation. I guarantee nobody likes war.
War is no joke, you should know that
No. Weird take tbh
