Stupid promises made, stupid promises kept. They're not going to last long.

The targets of the tariffs can probably get them removed by simply saying Trump has done a magnificent job convincing them to stop (practically non-existent) fentanyl shipments, whatever, or they can let him lie in the bed he made, hurting US consumers until he does it anyway.

Kind of like Ukraine could have got their Congress-approved funds immediately by pretending to open an investigation into the Bidens.

It would be showing futuristic tanks, fighter jets, Star Wars stormtroopers and drones equipped with space lasers patrolling the border relentlessly, in a rapid succession, with lots of bitchin' sound effects. Trump will always keep the tariffs even if they are bad for business & consumers alike.

Trump actually lessened the load for US Car Manufacturers knowing it would hurt their business paying more for the materials that go into making the vehicle that goes to consumers. Though he won’t lessen the load for consumers at the grocery store, hardware store, and gas station / convenient store because we aren’t his bottomline. Trump speaks a language known as ‘money’ and if you don’t contribute to his main cash flow then he doesn’t want anything to do with you.

He knows his supporters are gullible and will buy into what he sells, what he preaches, and what he thinks. If they weren’t gullible, he wouldn’t be in office right now and they don’t make up the millions he’s getting from oligarchy taking place in this corrupt land of forgotten freedom.

If you want to stop something bad from happening then you should do something to prevent it. Same as you would in your personal life, or in your professional life. I think Canada wants this to play out a little longer. The vast majority of our exports to the US are oil, gas and electricity that we sold at a discount. Now we sell electricity to the US at market prices but our oil and gas are now going to China and the EU. Canada has told Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick don't bother calling with a compromise because it's zero tariffs or no deal
