Trump is looking for fair trade deals. Countries can impose taxes on American goods but America does not impose tariffs on their goods? That's bullshit. The middle class has been decimated over the last 30 years. I am glad we have a president who will stick up for the American worker. He is not even in office yet and he already has Trudeau buffaloed and Mexican president just announced she will stop the huge caravans working their way through Mexico to get into the US before Trump closed the border in January.

But the amount coming in from the north has been increasing, and it's fair for Canada's neighbor and biggest trading partner to expect more from Canada in terms of trying to decrease those numbers. It's also wise to set the expectation that Canada cannot take anything for granted, and it sends the same message to other countries around the world. Many countries talk trash about the US and take it for granted. It's easy for other countries to focus exclusively on some of the bad things the US has done, but the fact is the world would be a very different place today without the US, and not in a good way.
