I have realized this myself a number of times but that’s how these people are it’s called projection, being double minded, cognitive dissidence, double think, and being a hypocrite. A lot of extreme leftists do fall on the dark personality spectrum as where others are sadly mislead people.

Many people want to have the image of being a person whose moral but it’s mostly a big act it’s called virtue signaling. They are signaling to be a virtuous person when in reality they aren’t they also are huge on telling you what a great person they are but when someone’s a good person it should speak for it’s self.

They also use things as a front if you’re making them look bad it’s easier to stir people up and get people on their side if they just claim something like you’re sexist, you’re racist, you’re this “ist” or that “phobe”, among other things. Even if it’s completely irrelevant and has nothing to do with anything. They know they can’t argue anything else besides trying to make you look bad.

They have delusions of grandeur if they happen to be a woman, if they happen to be a certain race, a certain sexuality, or anything else along those lines. They believe that they are the spokes person for everyone and that everyone thinks exactly like they do. But when they meet people who don’t think like them who happen to be whatever identity they start attacking them too.

They also have rules for themselves such as it’s okay when they make offensive jokes and say offensive things it’s just not okay when anyone else does it. Everyone must walk on egg shells around them. When they are speaking their mind and their truth they are standing for what they believe in. But when someone they disagree with does that you’re being divisive and spreading hate.

Everything they disagree with is hate not because it’s hateful but just because they hate it. They hate everyone who doesn’t think the same way as them since they are in a cult. Everyone’s a right winger if you disagree on absolutely anything even if you’re non political, a moderate democrat, or a moderate republican. It doesn’t matter that only pushed people further and further onto our side.

Most of them are just people filled with hate. They hate themselves and project that on everyone else. They are extremely judgmental people they stab one another in the back more then anyone else. All they do is sit around and gossip about people as well. Just genuinely nasty people but they don’t like looking like that so they project.

When people don’t put up with their bullshit they tend to go on the smear campaigns.

I can attest to that from personal experience.

I have liberal values, but people who identify as liberal got meaner and crazier over the last decade or so. I would share lots of personal experiences and observations, but it would take too long.

Needless to say, I don't want to be associated with what "liberalism" has become. Democrats are the worst.

In high school, I marched for civil rights. I supported women's lib. I marched for the Caesar Chavez farm workers campaign. Years later, I marched in support of gay marriage. My wife and I were active members of a liberal, nondenominational Unitarian-Universalist church from 2002 to 2020.
All my many, many friends were liberal until 2017 when latte-liberal Democrats lost their minds.

I believe in peace, tolerance, fairness, justice, liberty and freedom. I distrust authority and oppose war and aggression.

I'm just not brainwashed. I educate myself and think for myself. I am not fooled by legacy media propaganda and I don't care about consensus. I think political loyalty is for brainless sheep.

I still have many liberal/progressive friends. But they are the open-minded, informed ones who think for themselves and see through the manipulation. And I now have many friends who identify as conservative but, to my surprise, share many of the values that I listed above.

Yep, the "tolerant" left has become extremely intolerant towards everyone who disagrees with them. I used to be a Democrat and left the party because fellow Democrats became extremely intolerant and toxic. During the 2024 Primaries and General election, I've received more hate from Democrats than I have Republicans, and when I pointed it out I got attacked and vilified as if I was lying.
