Bondi was nominated to be the Attorney General, after Donald Trump's previous candidate Matt Gaetz withdrew. She was confirmed by Senate with 54-46 vote with all Republicans voting to confirm her. The only Democratic senator who voted for her confirmation was John Fetterman of Pennsylvania with all the others opposing it.
Bondi previously served as Attorney General of Florida from 2010 till 2018, becoming Florida's first ever female Attorney General. After she left office, she was succeeded by today's freshman Florida senator Ashley Moody. Before 2010, she used to be a Democrat, before switching to Republican Party. During her term as Attorney General, she lead US attorney generals in an unsuccessful attempt to overturn Obamacare and defendend Florida's consitutional amendment that banned gay marriage (although she said her actions didn't reflect her personal views on gay marriage and was doing it due to obeing the law and constitution).
Bondi keeps her private life secret, although it is known she is twice divorced. She belongs to New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) Christian movement but also had ties to Scientology in the past.
