How much is your light bill and water bill on average?

Gas & Electricity is usually about $40, a and maybe triple that during the coldest months (Dec-Feb) if we run the heater more often. It's so cheap because I've got a large solar system that cost $40,000, and because I installed it when you were still able to sell excess electricity back to the grid for full price. New solar systems can still sell back excess power in California, but you get a much reduced rate back when you do. Most of my bill is an unavoidable connection fee of $28. My only gas usage is the HVAC, and I rarely run the heat outside of the winter. Everything else is electric, and the solar panels - and the excess power it generates - means I don't really pay for electricity.

The panels will need to be replaced in another 15-20 years, but by then they'll be better and cheaper than what I've got.
