Tips on fixing my credit score?

My age isn’t accurate on here so don’t just too harshly please.

- I don’t have any credit cards or have never took any out but have been considering getting one with my bank.
- I do have $33,000 in student loans that I haven’t been able to afford paying each month. My credit score was 680 last year but as soon as March came it plummeted to 432.

Recently I have attempted to dispute them due to the FERPA/DOGE stuff with Elon. So I’m hoping that helps.

Get a credit card with a small limit, say $500. Then, once a month, use it to buy something for no more than $50, and pay the bill in full at the end of each month. Proving you can manage credit each month will increase your credit score, as well as giving you a credit history.

You also need to fund a way to deal with your student loans, which is probably the reason your score dropped so much. Prior to March, the loan may have been considered forgiven, due to what Biden did. But that has been overturned by the courts. Has nothing to do with DOGE. So, your outstanding debt went from zero to $33K, lowering your credit score.

Open a charge card and do not use it. Simply having a credit card (with no annual fee) will bump your score up. Your issue is that you have little to no credit history.

Student loans are criteria one for a good credit score. Gotta pay those or tjis won't resolve quickly

Pay off the debt and find something you can spend and repay monthly

I had a couple of credit cards and they made/saved me money before I paid them off, stopped using them and they got cancelled

No I don't think that you do because if you did you would have good credit.
