Every time some CEO thinks he's smarter than everyone else and wades into the political arena they trash themselves and their stock price and prove they aren't really very intelligent at all. They never seem to learn.

At this point, it might be too late for Tesla to separate itself from Musk’s persona. The brand and the man have become too intertwined—his politics, his posts, his presence all directly affect public trust and investor confidence. When you tie a company’s identity so tightly to one individual, you inherit not only their genius but their baggage too.

Tesla still has brilliant engineers and a strong product line, but Musk’s political involvement—especially now that he’s working closely with the Trump administration—has turned Tesla from a tech company into a political flashpoint. That kind of polarization doesn’t help when you’re trying to sell cars to a broad market.

If Musk genuinely wants Tesla to thrive beyond his own reputation, he might need to step back publicly and appoint a respected, apolitical CEO to refocus the company’s mission. Let the technology speak for itself again. That’s the only shot Tesla has at reclaiming its broader appeal.

But whether he’s willing to do that… is another story.

You do realize that investors are unhappy with Musk because they actually WANT Musk?

They are unhappy because he is spread so thin that he's not there doing his job. Musk himself has admitted that it's a problem. You can only do so many things, and he is neglecting Tesla.

The point is that they are unhappy because they WANT Musk.

Plus, "a major investor" means nothing unless they are on the board. There aren't any individual investors who own more than a tiny fraction of Tesla. The biggest individual investor besides Musk himself is his brother who owns less than 1%.

Dude, I am just repeating what investors themselves have said. Yes, they have lost tons of money. That's their own damn fault for driving the price so high in a questionable industry. There was no reason for Tesla stock to be so high.

The current backlash against Musk by the rank and file is his politics. Yes it affects the stock. If you deny that not being there doing his job isn't an issue, then you are not even sane. Of course the CEO should be there. But being there wouldn't be enough when it's in a questionable market.

New car companies are extremely difficult. Not once in my life have I seen one succeed in the US. It's EV on top of that, which is not gaining market acceptance as quickly as some people would like.

The obvious intent of this question, and many others like it, is a backhanded way to say they don't like Musk's politics. They don't like what he's doing, so they are digging for every possible thing to cut him down. Funny thing is that not long ago they loved Tesla because it was EV. Now suddenly they hate it because of a personal hate for the CEO.

I think he's an asshole. I think he says stupid shit. But I DO like what he is doing with DOGE. I think he should do much more. Cut cut cut. Then cut some more.

The problem is not Musk's absence from the CEO office. He doesn't add any tangible value. Other, much smarter people are creating the value. But Musk's ego and his politics are absolutely destroying value for investors at a furious pace. That is the problem. That's why investors want him gone yesterday.

Tesla would be very very stupid to capitulate to terrorism, which would cripple their reputation across the entire consumer base. If they actually want to oust Musk as CEO, they should cite things like what he has done with DOGE that include cutting and cancelling government contracts with Tesla.

*Vandalism are the acts of deranged people. Musk cannot control derangement.
Explosion events are a legitimate concern for all EV's. Best to buy good ICE powered cars for now.
*Betting Musk will develop new electric power sources which which will overcome fire, and explosion risks and improve charge ranges.
