Not sure what that means. A Tesla driver is pulling into a Tesla charger and it bursts into flames. So he follows the guy with a gas can and fortuitously has a base ball bat in the back. So he gets out and belts the gas can man up?

Or he sees a man pouring petrol over the charger and he gets out with the baseball bat.

So long as he makes a citizen arrest first and the arsonist tries to get away isn't he entitled to belt the shit out of him with the base ball bat? Arson is a felony in my country so we would be entitled to.

I think the US has citizen arrest provisions - most anglo countries do.

If you see a felony being committed than you are entitled to make a citizen's arrest and detain the criminal. if they try to flee you can use force and belt them till they don't want to run away any more.

You are not entitled to bash them up if after you say the magic words "you're under citizen's arrest' they sit down quietly and patiently wait for the police to come to take them to the holding pen. Only if the try to fight you or run away.

Just googled and you do have it but the regs vary by state. Your mileage may vary.
