Canada can easily develop these weapons. Given that the USA is no longer to be trusted as an allies is it time Canada took the unfortunate step to develop its own nuclear weapons for self defense?

I generally agree with every thing you have said. Canada has always fought against nuclear proliferation. But times have changed. Sadly the quickest way to deter an "annexation" from the south is nuclear weapons. Canada will never be able to deter a conventional invasion.
