Early humans mated with Neanderthals! Would modern humans ever do that?

I don't find any particular attraction to Neanderthals (no offense lol), but early humans evidently did, as they engaged in interbreeding for over 50,000 years, and some literature suggests this could have lasted over 100,000 years. Assuming this, would modern humans be inclined to form relationships or mate with Neanderthals if they were still alive today?

Assuming there was a second species of humans living today, I’d say that’s a difficult question to answer. There would be obvious barriers in language, customs, behaviour and geographical proximity. If there was a small group of non- Homo Sapiens I’d say they’d probably be extended protection from interference from Homo Sapiens.

Some of it has to do with numbers. Early humans were more genetically advanced than Neanderthals, but there weren't a lot of thrm and the urge to procreate is present.
