Why would neanderthals not be possible if this was all a creation? We have different breeds of animals. Some go extinct, others interbreed, etc. If your thesis is that god created this universe Neanderthals would be part of that.

because different species can produce fertile offspring, even though the majority are unfit, and natural selection is very very harsh on the offspring. some of the genes neanderthals had were advantagous in extremely cold climates. maybe their metabolism digested fats better, or produced more body heat.

we also have 0% neanderthal paternity. all of our neanderthal DNA comes from females. what likely happened was the complete genocide of males upon contact (not unprecedented for humans to do that) and then the r@ping of the females.

The Bible is a collection of myths stolen from other cultures. There is nothing original. It's a religion designed by committee over thousands of years. If you had a solid understanding of the science behind human evolution and our relation to our Neanderthal ancestors, you probably wouldn’t be a young Earth creationist. To acknowledge the science proving the existence of Neanderthals is to acknowledge the science proving that the species is thousands of years old. The same methods were used to prove both, and if the former is historically sound then so is the latter. I’m okay with people holding whatever beliefs make sense to them, but I do ask that those beliefs don’t actively contradict one another
