This is such a broad topic.

But in my opinion, this is because of curiosity and greed, or also known as opportunity and growth.

Remember, war is only an extension to politics. We dont wage war because we like it, unless of course you are a dictator. We have the president, the vice, the senate, the board, and all others in a single room decising a single choice, a proxy for a whole nation to decide. All the while being careful not to enrage the public.

It is not simple to know what the point is, because there is none.

If you throw a snowball in the mountains that immediately became an avalanche, would you say its your fault? Some might say yes, some might say no. In the end, the avalanche fell, and the result is destruction at the bottom.

This world is so large that we cannot keep track if everything that is needed to right. We just do what the cards we are dealt with.
