Of course history isn't only wars. But conflict is inevitable when different societies compete for land, resources, commerce, technology, etc. History is also language, technology, philosophy, science, music, art, fashion, food, religions, governments, politics, medicine, change, etc.

... not ''only'', but admittedly still a good portion of it is about ''wars''.

Until recently war was the natural state of being. So when we think of history it's easier to think in periods of war rather than actual dates.
