What are the stock markets trying to tell us?

It is generally agreed that investors make decisions based on what they think the future holds. With this in mind what do you think the current stock market behavior is trying to tell us about the future?

All of us in the markets were expecting a bull market when Trump became president and it's been a bear market since he was inaugurated. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks, the market is always right. It decides winners and losers and it doesn't discriminate. It's a leading indicator of what direction the economy might take. Expect more losses because industrial investors already sold off so it's retail investors thinking they're buying the dip that are keeping the markets from going lower. If the tariffs are still in place on Friday, I wouldn't be surprised with a drop around 10% this week with the possibility of one or two positive days sprinkled in.

Sounds to me that they know pretty damn well what is going to happen in the future and its not good for them.

@Syntosi I think the long range predictions are excellent. This country is going to have a period of extended growth

The long range predictions were based on Trump maintaining Bidens policies. Because of course they were, it was based on what has already happened as opposed to changes.

@Syntosi No, they are based on economic growth driven by bringing industry back to America and from tariffs.

No they were not. They were based on known factors such as the current state of the economy and recent history which establishes a trend. No respectable economist would make serious economic predictions based on hypothetical changes because they know that it is just a complete waste of time.
