Trending & News Yes, it was a system that created it and gullible stupidity that propagated it. Were all a bunch of sickos if you take a higher view. It's good to take a whack at fixing it.
It seems really unfair to punish the world for what is our greed and stupidity, but ya have to deal with reality as see it. A lot of people may suffer, die, starve, lose jobs because of this. That sucks, we can continue to have empathy and love for others expressed in other ways. I do on a daily basis.
I saw my fathers processing plant shut down and shipped to the great state of "Taiwan" back in the 90's... all those jobs lost. Delphi... gone (union/mgmt issues but still... gone).
I talked to the 80-90 yr olds that went to China to build their industrial base back in the 60's and 70's. We effectively built up the world via globalization, which leveled out the wealth in the world to some extent while corporations got rich and america lost it's jobs. What's worse, we lost our way... spending on junk products from China that last a year, disposable lifestyle, planned obsolescence policy polluting the planet, etc etc.. I could go on... what' the point. USA got gutted. Don't believe me, go do a tour of asia big cities. They got the wealth. Watch crazy rich Asians if you can't travel and then tour Philadelphia drug row. USA got screwed, it's our own fault, time to take responsibility and make some changes.
There is a huge problem/flaw with Trumps thinking, but I won't even get into it...
It is true. It is not the fault of consumers or American companies. It is the fault of our leaders. Either they were too stupid or too compromised by foreign money they allowed entire industries to be shipped overseas.
Independent Presidential candidate Ross Perot said that if NAFTA was passed there would be a sucking sound of American manufacturing jobs going to Mexico. He was not wrong. For decades the middle class has lost ground to foreign competition. There is a container ship the goes between China and the port of LA. It comes to the US practically awash with cheap China goods and goes back to China practically empty.
You never see American made cars in Europe because they have tariffs on them. President Trump wanted to level the plying field.
He is right, America has been getting ripped off for decades. Where I live it used to be the shoe manufacturing capitol of the world. Now all those factories are empty and the nice middle class neighborhoods that existed in the 70s and 80s are now run down slums.
