May I suggest a more logical and sinister motive? By imposing tariffs it reduces the amount countries have to spend on their militaries. America has made it clear if Russia wants to attack Europe it will sit it out, yet Trump is stripping poorer countries of their means of raising funds to defend themselves. Very handy if his mate Putin wants to seize Italy while he invades Greenland isn't it?

never explained it all that well, but no.
we have a debt /deficit financial problem. Idea is.
Raise income, lower interest rates to refinance the debt, and reposition USA to have manufacturing so is more sustainable.
I suspect part of this is inflationary as well...
It's a gamble, it's like defusing a bomb... might work, might not...

  To say Trump is " on the nose " is an understatement , and includes some heavy hitting mates now , plus virtually ALL of Wall Street , Check your 401 K , you are being screwed.
  Now , even if ALL were reversed right now TODAY , The USA still has massive problems , yet every day it continues your lifestyle and budgets drop into the toilet

i was dead set on a pizza yesterday. i ended up dialing the number for the one less than 2 miles down the road. i end up with a free long-distance call to india, where these people don't eat that much meat and live continents away. how are they going to know the specials? actually the guy was pretty great. he gave off this, you just interrupted sex with another indian outsourced girl that's making a lot of money. lots more than you doing the same job. good guy, got the order right and the timing. i had no qualms about him. but why is pizza hut outsourcing?
