Why does California have the most strict laws against sexual harassment compared to the rest of the United States?

California has strict laws against sexual harassment. Statewide employees must do training and likely state universities and public education will follow. Consequences for sexual harassment and misconduct are the most harsh in the United States on top of having the most strict laws against misconduct.

Well liberal states tend to take a more proactive stance on sexual harassment, but I have a more specific guess. I think it’s Hollywood. I’m not super familiar with Hollywoods culture, but it’s not a secret that sexual harassment and assault are rampant there, and have been for a long time. Look up the casting couch if you don’t believe me. Hence, stronger and more specifically laws detailing appropriate conduct surrounding sex are necessary. Haven’t done any research by the way, just speculating based on what I’ve heard

Because the state of california understands those events can leave much longer lasting effects on one’s psyche than most laws allow, so they’re harsher on punishing the offenders

It's comical because they essentially legalized pedophilia. They don't punish rioters or people who steal, and they basically, during the pandemic, released murderers, rapists and all around evil people from prison. California is a shit hole.
