What's the point of people trying to tear someone down?

I'm often by myself with my kid. I have my own style because I'm an individual. I'm confident and don't compare myself to others because why would I do that? I mind my business and even that bothers people. People go out of their way to harass, annoy and bully me. They want my attention but why? Why not just leave me alone?

They're threatened by my confidence

They're jealous of my looks

In a lot of ways it's a pyramid scheme. As much as the largest powers at be beat me up, I can put as much pressure on the neck of a lower class person.
