UK Supreme Court rules that men who identify as transgender are not women. Return to sanity?

Women’s rights groups, including For Women Scotland (FWS), which brought the case against Scottish ministers to the UK’s highest court, celebrated the unanimous judgment, handed down to a packed courtroom in London on Wednesday.

Another women’s rights group, Sex Matters, said in a statement: “We are delighted..."

The LGB Alliance, which provided a written submission in the case, said “This is a momentous judgment, and I really hope it is the beginning of the end of the madness, and the UK can now lead the world back to sanity.”

Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch, who has previously spoken out against gender ideology and the harm it does to both women and children, welcomed the judgment on X.

“Saying ’trans women are women' was never true in fact and now isn’t true in law, either,” she wrote.

“A victory for all of the women who faced personal abuse or lost their jobs for stating the obvious.

“Women are women and men are men: you cannot change your biological sex. The era of Keir Starmer telling us that some women have penises has come to an end. Hallelujah!”

Author JK Rowling, a vocal supporter of FWS, also commented on X, saying: “It took three extraordinary, tenacious Scottish women with an army behind them to get this case heard by the Supreme Court and, in winning, they’ve protected the rights of women and girls across the UK. @ForWomenScot I’m so proud to know you.”
