Transsexual = Males to females and females to males, usually undergoes medical procedures like hormone treatment and surgeries.
Transgender = Although all transsexuals are transgender not all transgenders are transsexuals. Some trans people identify themselves as several genders, no genders (agender) or quart a gender, quart a nothing and half neutral like demi-boys and demi-girls.

The less than 0,5% who are true transsexuals should be allowed HRT and surgeries if they're adults over 18 or 20 years old imho because on the real ones it may be more effective than other options. The other people who claims to be trans should seek help. Other mental problems are often misdiagnosed as transsexualism like low self-esteemed teens who wants to follow trends and be popular, depressed people etc. It's not people's fault they've mental disorders though.
I voted "D". My reason is that I really don't care what someone calls themselves. There are only two legitimate human genders, scientifically as well as in reality, in this world unless you count the very few hermaphrodites and they have both of the same two genders. The fact is that we are born a male or female. Just because the PC leftists insist we have many genders does not make it so. I'm sick of them making everything a big deal. If someone wants to be transgender or anything else, who am I to question them. I have the choice to be around who I want. A persons gender doesn't have anything to do with my choice. An example of this idiocy is a school teacher in a high school in the eastern USA that got fired for the crime of calling a transgender male to female student by her chosen female name. The teacher is not allowed by the schools far left administration to say any words that lead to a female or male gender when talking to students. This means he can't call a girl a girl or female. This means he can't use he or she or her and him, etc! The teacher was careful not to say anything that has to do with gender. Using "her" female name somehow constituted using a gender! Another example I saw today was about a transgender male to female that went nuts when a store clerk said sir to him/her. The guy looked like a guy, sounded like a guy and was wearing unisex clothing. The idiot started cussing loudly and was asked by a woman to stop cussing because there was a child there. The guy/girl wouldn't quit yelling at the clerk behind the counter even after he said he was sorry. The transgender guy even asked the clerk to step outside to settle it. When the idiot finished his tantrum, he kicked over some merchandise and left. These behaviors are exactly why so many people have the bias they have regarding this subject. I have friends who are gay as well as two transgender friends. They all wish the idiots shoving this down our throats would just shut up. They feel that their gender/sexuality are part of their private lives. Let people be what they want. What does it matter? We can't be forced to be friends with anyone we don't want to be for whatever reason.

I don't know enough about the brain or mental disorders to have a valid opinion on this, but it makes sense to me that it would be a mental disorder.
It seems like there is a lot of political effort pushing for it not to be viewed as such and it makes me wonder if people in that field actually aggree or if they will just give in to the political pressure regardless of what they actually believe.
As far as what the best solution is, once again I don't know. It makes sense that you either have to get their body to match the brain or get the brain to match the body. I would think the second option would be better, but apparently the medical community disagrees :/

Mental illness don't mean your intellectual doesn't work. It just mean you're not functionally normally or like the majority. ADHD and Autism are also considered mental disorders or something like that although people with these diagnoses don't struggle intellectually. Thinking you're a different sex than what you really are isn't common and it's a difference in their brain structure. An illness is often used about something that's very rare.
You can still be smart and be depressed or have anxiety. Transsexuals are often depressed and have anxiety. Mental illness are stigmatized in our society and often misunderstood.

Your not born with metal illnesses, they develop when you get older. I think they should be evaluated and treated for it. Most people regret their sex change and some commit suicide. Its metal illness period.
Some people are born with genetics that makes them more likely to get a mental illness than others. Schizophrenic and psychopathic people are born with genetics that makes it possible for them to get it. People without these genes are less likely to get it and mental illnesses are often something you can inherit from your biological family.

Well for one I am not jumping on the your born this way and need to transition train that drs are having to jump on. Also people who actually experience that mental illness are worse off when they transition. Many commit suicide and others regret it. There is even a program helping people after the transition. You can watch that documentary on youtube forgot the name but you would probably just need to type up transgender or something. Its becoming a normal that is why people are trying to push this whole transition thing.
Wrong morally? No. However some are wrong in the factual sense and some are not. Some are wrong in other ways but not always. Its complicated. Trangenderism is real, their is no doubt about that to my knowledge. We have many studies all showing (pretransition) that transgenders have different brain structures, ones that match the gender they identify as and as such that is beyond their control. So in that regard their is nothing wrong about it in a moral sense.
Pretending like transgenderism is normal however is very much wrong, its not normal, it is abnormal (otherwise we would have transgender people, they would just be people). It is something that we should hope to not happen, because despite what the public likes to say its not a good life (they have a substantially higher suicide rate then any other group bar none), its hard (I imagine) to have your brain telling you your one way yet when you look you see something quite different. It means that you have to either stay as you are and be something you feel like your not (and be depressed and potentially suicidal) and live a life that you feel isn't yours OR you choose to undergo dangerous life altering surgeries, take sex hormones with no real information on what it could do to you long term (hormone therapy is still relatively new, the long term affects are still not well studied) and that also sterilizes you.
You also risk being rejected by society because the likelihood hat you will "pass" is not that high (issues with the uncanny valley (basically we have better disposition towards thing that look like familiar things up until a certain point where they are "too" familiar but not quite familiar enough (this is the uncanny valley) that is where you get the feeling of creepy, you don't know how to respond to it because the object or person in question doesn't quite fit into the catagories your familiar with (I think this is probably responsible for at least some of the animosity towards transsexuals)), so you risk being not only in the "wrong" body but also having society see you as different and now you are twice miserable because now you cannot even integrate into society. So this idea that transgenderism is good and "normal" is simply not the case and that is wrong. It should not be taken lightly.
Now, that said, just because your transgender doesn't mean you cannot be a functional member of society, it doesn't mean your not deserving of respect, love, courtesy, friendship or anything else. A lot of people assume that if you have any criticism then it must mean you hate them and that is far from the case, it is abnormal and it is very much a bad thing but so is color blindness and we don't hear any one saying people with color blindness can't be this or that or they should be persecuted or punished or they are less then human or what have you.
The other issue is the "multiple genders", this is factually incorrect. Their are two genders, it is well established, we have never found evidence of any mystical third gender that has remained unnoticed for the entire development of our species until the past ten years. We know brain structures and hormones that affect gender, their are only two sets that we see and can observe, anything else is almost certainly (unless they can provide evidence that usurps the decades of medical research and thousands of years of history) made up, likely for attention. This is the kind that is wrong, the "multigender/genderfluid/etc." these do not exist.
The other issue is the push to alter our entire society to accomadate.5% of the population, that is morally wrong, its unfair to the rest of the world to have a select few demand that the whole world cater to their whims. Saying that a person has to use your "preffered noun" or be punished by the law is morally objectionable, no question. This is a power grab by certain groups (ironically, I don't think its by actual trangender people but their so called self proclaimed "advocates").
The other issue is when its pushed on children, they have yet to go through puberty and thus cannot be determined whether or not they are transgender (and messing with their hormones and bodies at that age could have sever consequences later, not just the fact that they could want to transition back when they are older but won't be able to (without proper development sex reassignment surgery becomes much more difficult because their is not enough material to work with to create artificial vaginas for male to female transgenders for instance)), they also are not old enough to give consent and so again, are more likely to be pressured by parents into this when they may not actually want it and so nothing should be done until they are old enough to make that decision themselves. Also with them being so young, hormones change their bodies, they are at an uncertain time of their life and their is a very good probability that they will stop feeling body dysphoria once their bodies finish developing (this is actually quite common during puberty that a child will feel body dysphoria but eventually one they finish developing they grow out of it).
So all of that needs to be taken into account and asking whether or not its wrong or not is actually an extreme oversimplification of the situation.
No, nothing is, even schizophrenia isn't in my opinion, and depression as well. It's just a door that has opened but never before. Depression is normal, it's good, it means somethings bother you, it's just a prolonged state of mind because there's one thing that bothers you and you don't know what to do about it and it ain't different then sadness. And you might say it's in your genes and you're right, but it's as much as in your genes as satisfaction and empathy, they're all doors you discover. And mania depressia is also a state of mind, but it's a much more sensitive one, you just feel overwhelmed and have so much on your head you feel like it's blowing up, but it's still a state of mind over all, and it's as needed as sadness and happiness. Schizophrenia is also some sort of a state of mind, but not as much as in your control as depression, and much more physical, but it's not an illness until you make one out of it. Schizophrenia is something that is very hard to handle and understand, only really strong and wise people can live with it like most everyday people, but it's possible, and it's really scary, and terrifying actually, but when you understand it's a part of you, you can learn to live with it altho it's very hard, it's a choice you have to make. Transgenderism is not being born with a mind of a female or male, but is not feeling as connected to your own physical gender as you are to the other, and it also doesn't necessarily mean you're gay, but it just means you believe another gender fits you more than the one you're wearing. It's more a choice of living with the gender you are and enjoying it, or taking the life is short road and enjoying life as the gender you feel more close to.
I personally don't like seeing a transgender man that believes he wants to be or is a female and thinking wow she's beautiful (it has happened and it was just weird), because maybe he is girl, and maybe there are some boys out there that would attract to her, but not me, just not my taste, I like the original girls, just thinking of some sort of a sexual connection, even an eye connection between me and a guy makes me weirded out and feel gross, not homophobic, just not my type. I think it's a mental illness trying to pass as a 'human right'. People like saying that you should embrace your body and love yourself, yet we let transexuals happen. Doesn't that go all the way against accepting yourself? If you're born a man, there's no reason to change it. If you're born a woman there's no reason to change that either.
Some might say something like: clownfish change sex naturally or something similar... But can we do it? No. It's not remotely natural for us to change a gender or our sex. It really depends on the contexts. I fully support a grown adult over 18 choice to want to change their gender if that's truly how they feel but I don't agree with children having sex changes, I feel children should be aloud to be children and they shouldn't have that kind of pressure on them, there is such thing as Tom boys and little boys who like the do girly things and I see nothing wrong with it as long as they are happy. My little cousin when he was a toddler he played with baby dolls, like dressing as a princess and had his nails painted, he even looked like a little girl, now he's 11 and he'd die off embarrassment if I ever mentioned that to his friends but he still does like some cute, pretty girly things, I think he's just very creative and different to others his age doesn't mean he wants to be a girl but if he grew up wanting that I'd fully support him and still love him the same.

Those same people who say that transgenderism should be a universal human right are also claiming that genderism should be eradicated from existence. That's utterly illogical and irrational; either there ARE intrinsic gender roles, which can define one's gender and characterise certain individuals as a different gender to their biological sex, or there AREN'T inherent gender roles, individuals' habits, preferences, emotional and psychological profiles DON'T define their gender, and there is effectively no such thing as 'gender'- only biological sex, as defined by people's chromosomes. You can't have it both ways- you can't "feel like the other gender" when there's no longer any such thing as "feeling/acting like a man/woman". Such arguments are self-contradictory and fundamentally unsound.
It's not wrong but coming from a cis person, it's hard to understand. From a scientific perspective, transgenderism exists with the chemical activity in their brain similar to the gender they want to be.
Gender dysphoria itself is a mental illness that affects someone's well being, how they function and think. It can only be alleviated through a series of hormones and surgeries but you have to be absolutely sure that you want to go through that as all that money and effort is being spent on your feelings.
Transgender itself is an identity to explain what you are. When we encounter an unknown we put a label on it in order to explain what it is. However, I think the definition of it got twisted, so everyone who doesn't feel like a boy or girl falls under that.
Transgender is simply identifying someone who went from male to female or vice versa socially and physically. I don't understand how trans people can identify as something else besides the gender they want to be.
I believe that if it is your body you’re allowed to do anything you feel is right with it. Being transgender isn’t a choice but rather something you’re born with called gender dysphoria, no one could chose this knowing so many people are transophobic. To me it is inspiring when transgender people have the strength and courage to embrace who they really are regardless of society’s views. Who cares if they have a vagina or a penis? That shouldn’t determine their gender. If they feel like a female their body is theirs to change or to keep and say that this body is still female because that’s how they feel about it. Transgender people should have the same rights respect and fair treatment as any other individual.
That’s not to say that one should rush into surgery before being completely certain that this is what they want and learning about the possible complications that could follow.
Sure you can have gender dysphoria and change your body all you want but they're still biologically a man if they're born a man or biologically a women if they're born a women, no amount of surgery is going to change that. Men can still get prostate cancer, women can still get ovarian or cervical cancer.
They can change all they want but they also can't get offended when men won't date M to F transgenders because they're straight men who want biological children.

Gender dysphoria is a condition where a person experiences discomfort or distress because there's a mismatch between their biological sex and gender identity. It is not a mental illness. Also if you refer to suicides you should know that a major reason for trans people committing suicide is that some individuals don’t accept them for ego they truly are so it’s hypocritical to not support them if you’re making a point about suicide. However yes I agree that it is absolutely fine to refuse to date a transgender person if they are infertile as a consequence of their surgery or original anatomy. What is not okay is refusing to date them just because of their original anatomical gender. If you claim you’re not transophobic it means you accept their true gender and it shouldn’t make you « less straight » if you date them.

This is not a new thing it have existed for a long long time. It's a modern idea to suppress it and by modern it in the last 100-200 years. Indians (American native) had several genders and it was considered to be normal. In most cases it's not a bad choice or a mental illness, it's the new "Hysteria" that plaged women in the 1800 if you know what I mean. It's a norm that is misunderstood in a society that is on its way out of suppression. This is just the tipping point of a better future. No that's not what I meant. He understands it's new and it's hard to just suddenly switch from a she to he. I still see him as my sister in earlier years even though now he is my brother. I'm not just calling him a she because I feel like it, I forget some times because he was my sister and I referred to him as a she for my entire life. I'm trying to switch and not mess up but sometimes I get my words mixed up and he understands and is okay with that like he isn't going to start screaming at me, he just corrects me if I'm wrong.
Getting a mascectomy doesn't make you male, or any less female. By that token, any and all women who wear business suits and take CEO positions, or wear sportswear and play sports, should be categorized as trans-males, because they're wearing traditionally 'male clothing' and adopting traditional 'male gender roles'. Either you can do whatever you want to do and wear whatever you want to wear without it defining your gender, or your gender is defined exclusively by whatever it is you want to do and want to wear. You can't have it both ways.
If you're modeling it after a particular group of guys and clothing that is aimed towards men, then it obviously is. It doesn't matter whether you or anyone else thinks he isn't male. He feels that way and he goes to all lengths to help that. He isn't going to be walking around with a pink sparkly top on, he doesn't view that as masculine. He might walk around with a loose shirt that you can buy from THE MEN'S SECTION in stores. The lgbt groups don't define and male the rules for anyone who would fit in their group.
But then that's a definition of "masculinity" and "femininity" that's based solely upon inherently toxic, harmful, negative gender stereotypes. The way your brother feels, and goes to all lengths to act out, is the textbook definition of what "toxic masculinity" is. The LGBT groups don't define and make the rules for anyone who would fit in their group. No-one defines and makes the rules for anyone who's born with either XX or XY chromosomes either. Going out of his way to act "effeminate", as referenced by the negative pop-culture stereotype of the "wimpy gay man", doesn't make that man a female. And going out of her way to act "masculine", as referenced by the negative pop-culture stereotype of the "aggressive butch lesbian", doesn't make that woman a male. Does it?
It is not wrong to associate with being a different gender than what you are born. However what I hate about the LGBT comunity is that celebrities seem to push it's agenda down our throats and see it as cool publicity to come forward and support the movement to get some of their own limelight. I have no oppinion either way. I support freedom of speech ( unless it is hatred or violence) but I just let them get on wiyh theor lives I just view them as another normal human being who shouldn't have to be paraded around like somethong unique.
Obviously I don't think there's anything wrong with transgendering. As a teenage boy I developed various feminine features, through no fault of my own. This was very confusing of course and my mother was delighted with my development. I struggled with this most of my life until I finally went over to the other side and am much happier now.
I think it depends on the persons age, but it’s a tricky thing to deal with altogether. Because if a boy feels he’s in the wrong body at the start of puberty, if he doesn’t go on hormones then his voice will deepen permanently and he will grow facial hair and such. However, he also might change his mind half way through.
So I think it’s very difficult and all depends on circumstance and context.
It's not wrong because some people are genuinely depressed and unhappy with their assigned birth, who's to say they can't be who they want to be? We can't dictate what people can or can't be, people just need to learn to accept people's happiness.
Besides, it's hard to truly understand a person unless you know how they feel. So no, it is not wrong to seek what makes your life happy, despite assigned gender given from birth.
Their depression and unhappiness doesn't get better after they become "who they truly are". The suicide rate is still just as high and their unhappiness still remains.
I don't believe it's wrong. What gender you prefer to have relationships with and identify with is 100% their personal business. My question to those who beleive it is a choice: why ANYONE choose a LBGT sexuality, gender ID etc considering how they are regarded in society.
The ones who are beating them up are wrong. People are just stuck with males love females and vice versa. I'm straight, but I support those who believe they don't feel like they gender they are.
It's absolutely wrong. A man will never be a woman, no matter what. And the fact that we, as a society, let this roll... just shows how incredibly weak we've become. Seriously.

I personally don’t care and I don’t think it’s wrong. It’s your life, do whatever you want. It doesn’t really effect me nor should it change my opinion on what a person provides to society.
If they pay taxes , do their job and doesn’t do anything criminal then I don’t care who they are, they get a pass in my book
It's a type of Body Dismorphic Disorder. It isn't an acquired mental ilness and definitely not a choice, it's a mental disorder you're born with. So in that sense, being transgender is "wrong" because any disorder is (by definition) a malfunction of some part of your body, in this case your brain. Since there's no way to treat it, all you can do is adjust and accomodate the person's body so that it matches their brain. There's nothing wrong about that morally speaking.
