That doesn't sound unreasonable at all… everyone has different measures of success. For my part, I would say that I could have $100M in the bank and still feel like a failure if I had no one to share the spoils of war with.

Different people have different values and goals. Someone's dream might to be a stay at home mom. While some see that as a dream life others see it as being oppressed and stuck at home with no career.

Someone that makes 100k but spends 120k and is 50k in debt is poorer than someone that makes 50k, spends 40k and has 10k saved.
